Four lions

Postby JP » Mon May 10, 2010 10:49 am

Watched this movie on saturday, thought it was right up there in terms of british comedy, recommend it!

Its not an easy movie though, kind of plays with your emotions and makes some quirky situations where you are not quite sure whether to laugh or just grin :D

Check out the trailer, this is no ordinary comedy!

I'm looking forward to seeing this in the cinema when it gets here. I saw a clip of it ages ago and it was only a slight exaggeration to say "PMSL".

Chris Morris is a Legend, will go and see this asap!

Found the first half an hour quite dull, not very funny and began to wonder what all the fuss was about. It picked up a lot after that and I really enjoyed it.

I especially liked the subtle humour, like them using screws in the bombs instead of nails, and all the quotable lines like: "Fuck mini babybells!"

I think the film works because the humour is affectionate rather than scathing (similar to Monty Python laying into the church, or accountants). In the wrong hands, this film would have been a mess; trying to hard to go in for shock value. I reckon Morris plays it just right.
