In other news, I have entered/been talked into competing in my first PL comp, the Anglian PL champs on May 9th.

So all I can think right now is 'OH FUCKING HELL.........'

HELP!

Lets see what happens, eh?

Great news! Very soon, time for a crazy cycle to get you up to full strength.

Do you have a fetching singlet?

This is great news. After your first squat you'll be completely fine.

Fantastic! You wouldn't have been talked into it if you didn't have a damn good chance of doing well, and you know it :D Looking forward to seeing how your training and the competition goes!

Thank you everyone. I'll do my best. :)

Mate, no singlet in the world would make me look fetching. :P

-----

Thursday, 15/04

Box squats
8x2 - 75kg

Good mornings
2x5 - 25kg
2x3 - 35kg

Deadlift with bands
5x1 ... 40kg on the bar, with double-up bands to make the start of the pull tough. Each layer added about 30kg so I'm told. Pull to knees with a 2 second hold. Liked these a lot.

Glute-ham raises
3x8

Decline situps
1x10 - bw
2x10 - bw+10kg

Then some random power cleans outside with a few of the others. The chavs across the street thought my form was good, apparently. Nice to know.

Incline press
7 x 40kg
7 x 45kg

3x7 - 25kg

Skullcrushers/Tricep rope pulldowns/curlz

Side crunches

Re: Anglian Open: 20 days

Postby Talyn » Mon Apr 19, 2010 8:03 pm

Shaved my head over the weekend. Feel nice and aerodynamic now, plus I draw all kinds of stares from passerbys. Also look at least 50% more mean, which is sure to transform into strength gains.

Monday, 19/04

Squats
5x3 - 105kg... this is easily a sets/reps PB

Rack pulls (from 1st pin ~15-20cm)
Singles at:
120kg
140kg
145kg
150kg
160kg
165kg, my previous best at these was 147kg from a higher point.

Light SLDL's / light good mornings / long stretch

The build up for this comp was never going to be optimal, especially with me heading across the pond later this week. Hoping to go in on Wednesday and do some paused bench. Next week the plan is singles building up to meet weight so I will get some practice in.

20 days is plenty to grow a good beard to go with the shaved head (and decent tan).
