What alcohol....

Postby Tallula » Wed Mar 24, 2010 11:51 am

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone could suggest some wines (red and white) readily available at tescos that are vegan friendly? I've been on a few websites but none seem to tell me anything specific...And this is the kind of info I need to know :D

Thanks!

That's brilliant thank you, now I'll never have to linger in the alcohol aisle again...

www.barnivore.com is also a great resource. I was overjoyed to find out that Young's Double Chocolate Stout was vegan! :D

I find Sainsburys and co-op better places to buy wine, all their own brand wines are marked if vegan!

Easy!

True. Range is a bit pants there though. Good for the salad shakers and (if I'm not mistaken) Spiced Iced Buns.

Seriously, those things are awesome, I really hope they are vegan...

Urghh. That stuff could have steak in it for all I care  It's so sickly-sweet and chocolatey that they might as well not have bothered putting any stout in there. :spew:

I'm glad someone likes it though. Does anyone know if Marston's Oyster Stout is vegan? That stuff's pretty good (and no, it doesn't contain oysters).

Its usually what they use for filtering it. Probably the most common non-vegan thing is isinglass, which is made from the swim bladders of fish. Or some beers and wines use gelatine, or egg white, or milk proteins etc. These might all be filtered out, so not end up in the final product, but they are still not vegan.
