Artist who kills and tattoos pigs

Postby KaliBaby » Tue Dec 01, 2009 2:17 am

while I was procrastinating on my school work, I stumbled upon this article and was absolutely shocked/horrified.

http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/of ... -pigs/1252

went to the artist's website but it was confusing http://www.wimdelvoye.be/

did anyone hear/read about this guy before? the article is over a year old. I want to track him down and force needles into him.

yeah. i've seen this [fill in expletive] before. 'art has saved their lives'? yeah right.

Delvoye who saves the pigs from Chinese slaughter houses claims that ‘art has saved their lives’, the pigs however are eventually stuffed or skinned to become ‘paintings’ and ‘sculptures.’

How anyone can see that as 'beautiful' is beyond me. That is vile and disgusting. As with all of these galleries, sculptures, etc... that use dead animals in their work, how can they see murder as art? Perhaps someone should take him, skin him and tattoo his skin. We'll see if he still thinks it's 'art' then. :x

I am an artist and have always been opened minded with regards to what is classed as art, however I don't think anything should suffer at the hands of art, no matter what the subject or aim.

This is just plain cruel.

Horrified to find this as the 'big picture' on the BBC entertainment section.

I may have to complain.

Oh and I forgot to say - what a fucking nasty piece of work the artist is.

Looking at the article, it seems he tattoos the animals BEFORE they are killed.

One picture looks like the poor creature is being held down while being tattooed.

What a dickhead this "artist" is.

Yea, this guy is a total jerk. I still have vague memories of him making the news (10 + years ago) . Sad to see that he's still at it.

When I read and see such things that people do to animals, I always say to myself: If there really was a God, why would people be his worst creation?
