Friday: 15min run with dogs, then 400m swim at good pace

Saturday will be lots of driving for a seminar down south, then 10k on Sunday

Race report: woo hoo!! 10k in 1hour 2mins despite several long hills, only walked a couple times to drink. split time was 31.15/ 30.45 for each half!

Course was around Harewood House outside Leeds and described as hilly and challenging...on the plus side it was much more interesting that way and I'm more used to running on rough ground than tarmac, but the 1.5k of steady incline was a bit painful *ouch* First time I've run that far and I still loved it. Bizarrely I'm still running at the same pace I run a 5k, and indeed during a triathlon. I think I might only have one speed!

Monday - nothing apart from dog walking and a bath to ease off my legs

Tuesday - planned to swim in the morning but stomach is very off and period has just started. Will see how I feel later on today :(

Wednesday - fail

Thursday - SWIM!!! at long last, I am sooooo cranky without regular exercise and little dog walks do not cut it!!! Swam about 800m plus a bit of warm up/cool down and felt pretty good. Knees are a tad icky from the run but not awful.

I can totally relate to the getting cranking without regular training thing. I start looking like this after approximately 42.5 hours of no CV----> :x :x :x

Good work on all your racing n that...what's your next race gonna be?

*sigh* last week was not a pleasant experience (ate too much bread, felt too ick for exercise and then ex-husband problems) but this week is starting a little better!

Friday - can't actually remember what I did, I know I did something...

Saturday - went to a gym with a mate, first gym I've been to in a couple of years actually. Did 20min on crosstrainer, 15min cycle and 10min run then some swimming followed by a jacuzzi niiiiice!

Sunday - walking with friends and dogs for about 3 hours

Monday - slept in *boo hiss* so only managed one trip in and out of work on the bike - but definitely pushing it harder and loving the feeling too.

I've discovered the local health club has a running meet at lunchtime on a Wednesday and anyone can go, will try it this week and see how I get on

hmmmm well there's a 5mile run that I'm doing at the end of November and then might be doing the Hebden 2010 January challenge http://www.alangreenwood.biz/th2010/index.html short route but its 14.5 miles *gulp* so we'll see, I've only just managed to run 6 miles!

January is a fair way off I guess, plenty of time to build the mileage up???
An extra mile on a long run once a week is just about doable?? That way you'd be up to 14 by Christmas??

Fingers crossed! on the plus side if I can manage to get up to that distance then doing a middle distance triathlon in August seems more possible...I think I am mad!

Friday

Went to the gym for first time in a year or so - aiming to build tri specfic muscle fitness and it was fairly good fun, though it definitely required heavy metal on the iPod for motivation :)

Cardio: 15 mins on X trainer and 5 mins steady rowing
Weights:
Leg press (25kg for 20 reps x 3)
seated lat pull down (25kg x 20 x 3)
chest press *ouch!* (7.5kg x 15 x 3)
seated row (10kg x 20 x 3)
leg extension *super ouch burny* (10kg x 10 x 3)
