Great to see you starting a log.
A marathon is a great goal, but as I was discovering a year ago to this moment, it is quite a long way to run. With childcare and your knee injuries, I'd encourage you to aim for a 10k within 4 months, a HM next spring and then work your mileage up. Also, it will give you acheivements to keep you moving.
Then again, if you prove me wrong and storm straight into the marathon, I'm wrong!
