Losing the baggage

Postby xChittyx » Mon Aug 31, 2009 12:31 am

So I thought its about time I started a training log, and hopefully this should stop me from derailing everything all over again, or falling out of practice. Suffering from depression at the moment, so training gets put off due to apathy and lack of motivation, hopefully now will not be the case. Not going to aim for some super high goals at the moment due to lack of time and various other issues.

Currently sitting at 92.5 kilos, which is better than where I was a year ago at nearly 100 kilos thanks to a cyst in my armpit which I suffered two months with, and then a week before it was to be taken out, exploded leaving a hole in my armpit. Fun fun fun.

Anyway, enough feeling sorry for myself and making excuses. My goals are to get fit, lose the weight, tone up and put some muscle back on, get my diet to be more consistent and attain some flexibility back.
For the time being I'm just going to be doing cardio work, until I hit 90 kilos where I'll up the intensity of my cardio, start running again, and pick up martial arts training. (I used to be a second brown belt when I was younger, but gave it up due to my final years of high school and work - I don't think I'll go back to a school for a little while yet). At 85 kilos I'll again up the intensity of everything, and pick up weights and resistence training. Doing bodyweight twice a week, and freeweights once a week. Once I'm down to 80 I'll pick up the intensity of everything again, but also incorporate flexibility and yoga training within my schedule.
So my goals are to lose enough weight to get around to somewhere within 70kilos, and to lose my depression.

Started today (Monday) with a nice little cardio workout to some great Australian hardcore bands like Terror Firma and Fuck It I Quit.
Will probably do the same when I get home from uni to some Converge.

sorry to hear about the depression :-( I am at times a fellow sufferer. I find that running, walking and yoga really help but running definitely helps the most.

Exercise and diet can make a big difference, also if you can cut out alcohol completely that will help too because alcohol is a depressant.

Are you getting plenty of Omega 3 and Vitamin B?
Are you eating enough? because dieting and undereating can cause depression, especially low-fat dieting.

Feel free to PM me about any of this.

There may be factors in your environment such as your job (or being unemployed), or stress from studying, or relationships (family, friends, romance), where you live, money, etc. that are contributing to how you feel so it's good if you can look at those external factors and see if there is anything you can do to alter your situation no matter how small.

I'm going to get a blood test soon so I'll find out if I'm missing anything.
But I've suffered from it before, and Camus and Nietzsche helped me out then, but I know the causes now so I know where to turn.

Did 30 mins of boxing related workout today. A mix of punching and kicking the bag, shadowboxing, skipping rope. Felt good. Feeling my fitness coming back a bit.

Has been a hard time this past week finding time to workout. The last four days I've been out of the house for 18-20 hours each day. Great fun but, feeling really good at the moment.

Cracked out Propagandhi's first album this morning and had a great old cardio workout. Feeling great.

Thanks guys.
Long day at uni today.

Set myself a goal last night to try and work my way up to doing a cardio workout to four mindsnare albums (Australia's best hardcore band, totally crushing) which falls at just under 2 hours in length. Upon waking up today, I managed to pass my goal already. So happy about that.
Will now set myself a goal to do it to the five Propagandhi albums next time.

Various stuff mostly. Running, jumping, push ups, star jumps, knee jumps.
Had a horrible week last week, busy with lots of uni work and didn't get much of a chance to work out, so I pushed myself hard at work quite a bit.

Did 40 minutes this morning. Goal this week is to try and do something every day. Will be hard. Still lots of uni work to do. Sigh.

Fell off the wagon a bit the past two weeks.
Calfs took a while to recover from the 2 hour training session I shouldn't have done so soon and I've had a mass of homework to be getting through.
Put on weight too, back at 94.4 kilos, but no excuses.
Did about 40 mins of cardio this morning and started this 200 squats program...

I got 31 which is average, and it told me to skip ahead to week three, but as I only just scraped in at 31, I'm going to stick to week one.

Regular training will help your depression, just need to break the motivational cycle and you will reap the rewards.
