Well quite, her looks are of no importance as to her worth. Ultimately neither is whether she wrote the songs or not. A lot of soul and motown was 'manufactured' - in that singers were chosen by producers/songwriters and hits put out.

The bigger question is whether Lady GaGa is going to revolutionise the music industry or indeed whether (as with Motown and Soul) we'll be listening to her in 30 year's time.

Personally I doubt it.

I think many people would be surprised at how many bands are manufactured and don't write their songs, or if they do, have them re-written by producers.

And I also can't believe how popular some of it is. Lady Gaga is #1 on the radio charts last I recall a few weeks ago. That's atrocious.

I said she's ugly, because IMO, in a post-Crazy Frog pop world, looks of a popstar should be the #1 criteria given that music quality is irrelevant. Just see Katy Perry. She's an uglier version of Zooey Deschanel who tries to compensate by wearing next to no clothes.

israel, i'm a big fan of buttmuscles.com, so please don't take this the wrong way, but
1) that song rules. who says black dudes telling me, and the world, how cool they are isn't a profound and important message? and
2) lady gaga singing about being blind drunk in a club isn't intelligent.
Please don't hold up LG as a beacon of musical intelligence. As has been said, R Kelly fills that role quite comfortably with songs about his ex-gf burning his clothes, him and Snoop Dogg having threesomes with drunk girls and how much of a flirt he is.
