The referance point for the wording came from the original thread in which the subject was discussed.
But yeah- I just contacted the majors- would be good to know if there are any smaller companies manufacturing Vegan tyres!

I've got Michelins on the Land Rover. :D
But only because that's what the army use and I buy them second hand. :?

You mentioned public transport earlier. First Bus use Bridgestone.

If tyres aren't vegan, then surely that means that shoes whose soles are made from recycled car tyres can't be vegan?
I'm thinking of the Amazon flip flops which are supposed do be vegan and Vegetarian Shoes' recycled tyre shoes.

What do people think?

I e-mailed them myself, and received this:

Dear Mr VeganPetrolHead

Thank you for your recent e-mail.

We would advise that in response to your question, the statement is correct there are no Animal Products in Michelin Tyres.

We have allocated your message the reference number indicated above. If you need to contact us again regarding your message, we would be grateful if you could include the reference number.

Once again thank you for your interest in Michelin.

Yours sincerely
Michelin Tyre Public Limited Company

Woohoo - nicely done!

I've created a spreadsheet to track the details, here's what i've compiled so far:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key= ... utput=html

Post any more details here, and i'll continue include.

I'll contact tires i use: WTB, Specialized, Veloflex and Kenda.

If anyone else would like to help out, please let me know and i'll include as well, to avoid duplications. =)

Great stuff everyone!

Influencer - feel free to contact the three companies and send them this URL, maybe they'll begin to think twice...

Thanks for getting in touch, I am afraid our tyres are not vegan friendly so to speak as indeed animal products are used in the production of a Schwalbe tyre.

No animal products (stearic acid, etc) are used in our tires. They are animal free.
