smelly people

What is up with all the smelly people in health food stores? I mean I'm all cool with healthy eating and all but what is un natural about not bathing? Good natural soaps can be bought if thats a problem. Body odor is not cool. ANYONE WITH ME ON THIS?

Hello from Hawaii I'm glad to hear in the UK the odor in matural food stores is not like that here. A lot of us are not hippies and are clean and all the bad body odor tends to spoil the shopping experience for us. By the way the hippies are all alive and well in Hilo Hawaii.

No need to be smelly whever you are, wherever you are! :)

See ya,
Billy

PS If that's the only downside of living in Hawaii though, I'll swap ya!

I haven't run into this in NJ, NYC, MD, PA, CA or OR, so maybe it's a local trend? Or maybe I've just been lucky.

Is this a regular thing you notice? Sounds strange to me. Was it a hot day? :)

This is a very regular thing here every single time I go to the health food store. A lot of old school hippies live here. My wife hates going with me because of all of the odor. Hot days or cold it matters not. By the way it rains a whole lot in ths part of Hawaii. i have lived in oregon state for awhile and it didn't seem to be a problem there. All my workmates agree it is a problem keeps a lot of people away from a great store and a healthier life style.

Are the hippies online? If so, direct them to this site and the vegan deodorant thread. Might help, who knows

See ya,
Billy

PS Been to Oregon and loved it! Absolutely gorgeous woods :)

And here's a theory: A lot of people with chronic health problems haunt health food stores looking for alternative therapies, including changing their diets. People don't smell their best when they're ill.

Or maybe it's just people in your area, because honestly it's never been the case in my experience.

Since I gave up sugar I haven't suffered from B.O. Strange but true. Also, me farts haven't stunk nearly as bad! (and by jaysus, they were horrible.) So thanks Pat for pointing me the right way.

You talking about refined sugar or all sweeteners?

I still use molasses (for the iron) and fruit juices. I actually discovered that sugar was a hideously addictive mind altering substance. You think I'm kidding? Go off sugar for a month, and then see what it does to you when you go back on. Seriously, and they wonder why kids suffer from ADD. (Known in my household as the "dreaded sugar rush.")

The only problem I am having at the moment is that we ordered 2000 vegan creme eggs for Realfood to use as a fundraiser. Yes, I know they are vegan, yes I know they are organic and fairly traded - but UHM YUMMY! I want to eat them all up! And then I will be right back where I started, a smelly flatulating sugar addict. Argh!

smellies

I haven't noticed that myself. But i have heard the same thing from a friend who lived in in boulder. You get local cliques sometimes. I do encounter people at work or other places sometimes who simply don't brush/bathe/change clothes often enough. I went on a date once with this really gorgeous girl who just reeked. Takes all types.

BTW, i was in hilo just a few weeks ago. If i could do my job there, i'd move. Heck, oregon, for that matter. Why aren't the good jobs in the pretty places?
At this or that twist of it I feel my slippery self eluding me, gliding into deeper and darker waters than I care to probe.
