sensitive teeth

Postby Daffodil » Thu Jan 01, 2009 9:50 pm

since becoming a vegan (11 months ago) i've noticed my teeth are awfully sensitive to cold food/drink! iv'e never had this problem before in my life (been vegatarian for 10 yrs before turning vegan).

could it be i'm deficient in certain vits/minerals or is it that i now use toothpaste with no fluoride?

any advice would be great thanks.

I'm fairly certain there has been another thread about this quite recently, may be worth a search. I could be wrong though...

Are you eating a lot of raw fruits? I have heard that the acids in fruit can wear away the enamel. I haven't noticed any problems myself, so it could have to do with an individuals body chemistry as well.

fruit does do this.
also go to the dentist's, if you need a filling in your teeth sometimes the sign is that they become very sensitive......

I have that problem as well. I avoid citric acid and citrus in general. I brush with Kiss My Face toothpaste gel for sensitive teeth. Also, after my doctor confirmed I was not absorbing vitamin D no matter what I ate, I'm now taking 2000 IUs.

Hope that helps.
