did 84 miles today, i've never gone over 60! was awesome tho :D just after the 50 mile mark did some through-and-out practice with the people i was out with so we were bombing along at 25-30 mph on the flat, i've never been able to keep that speed up after such a distance before! i'm well pleased with myself, i should start a training log maybe, it's a sign of thing's to come i tell you ;)

Sounds pretty good !

Doubtful I will be doing any road races. I don't want to be getting my ass kicked by 60kg whippersnappers ! A nice brutal, windswept and flat road race in Belgium, in the mud and shit, with cobbles might be ok. But I am too big to be flying up the hills these days. 77kg is not good for going up hills at 28mph !

I am concentrating on time trials these days, and hopefully pursuit racing too. If I can find the time. Power and speed are my targets these days !

Its not really training ! I have ridden thousands of road races in my career. So I know what the benefits are...and what they aren't !

I'll give it a miss, I think !

I'll stick to my nasty, brutal training sessions.....less chance of someone falling off infront of me then !

thousands? if we pick a low 2000 it would take you 40 years of racing every weekend to accomplish this. have you been eating those drugs you're always joking about

Ha ha !

Ok.....maybe exaggerating ! It feels like thousands !

Maybe up to 1000 ? I rode a lot of stage races in France. Week long ones, mainly. So if we included each daily stage as a race, plus all the two day races, on a saturday and sunday, and the three day races too. Plus riding two every weekend in Britain, for more than ten years. I reckon it would be over a thousand.

And I am old, remember !

Good point !

But if I told you about all my Tour wins, and my work with Dr. Ferrari, I'd have to kill you !

And I do visit Madrid every five weeks.....home of the famous 'maternity' clinic, beloved by athletes and cyclists until the police closed it down.

it's not so much the speed, it's easy to get to 25-30 mpg, it's sustaining that speed.
