I'm curious what is the fuel efficiency of a motorbike compared with cars?
I have a very small car :D
Commute is 1 hour each way in the car. ( Public transport would take 2 hours plus each way. )

Am not a fan of Top Gear, it's a bit dull IMO! Don't watch much TV anyway. I listen to radio instead.

because of the car culture people take jobs and move to areas which are not commutable (in easy way) by other means. So when in the past you simply just woudnt take jobs out of reach or live out of reach, car culture and cheap petrol means that thats not a problem any more.

I couldnt personally do that, and only look for jobs which are easily reachable by public transport - or like my current one, by walking :D

But its true, the public transport system in this country is abysmal, and one reason for that (after the destruction of it via rampant privatisation) is the car culture. Private cars jam up the streets so that the buses cant travel fast and efficiently.

In manchester there is a congestion charge scheme coming up for public vote. I think its a wrong way to implement change, but thats the only option on the cars. If it goes through it would revolutionise the public transport network in greater manchester with massive investments into improvements in rail, tram and bus networks.

I have love/hate relationship with cars. Hate because of what they represent and do, destroy communities, pollute, climate change, fragmentation of transport, all kinds of destructive things. Love because a good car is nice to drive, convenient and so on. I've owned maybe 15 cars in my life so far and the current 700 pound VW Polo is the most expensive one so far, so most of my driving has been with pieces of shits

That twat reminds me of smug immature kids who revell in telling sensitive kids in their class that they just stamped on a snail for fun. Actually his comments about running over foxes are very similar.

No moral high ground from me, I drive, but I don't discourage public transport or adopt a spiteful stance towards anything positive.

Next issue maybe they should reenact a motorbike stunt and try to leap over him using a steamroller.

Even though I find Jeremy funny I think it's really scary that someone might take that shit seriously. A lot of car enthusiasts aren't actually rocket scientists and they might not see Jeremy's irony.

I sent feedback to that article about veganism. I really doubt people think that vegans are pale and skinny if they check the link I posted. :)
