Just incase you didn't realise, a new season of Top Gear starts on Sunday! As a huge fan, I feel it my duty to ensure everyone knows!

That is all 8)

This is all true. He is a complete arse, but a very funny complete arse.

I have no problem with car culture as a whole. I think that unless you live in London, public transport is so crap that cars make far more sense. For instance my commute takes 25min in the car and 1.5 hours by public transport.

I think that correct phrase for Jezzer would be "Cock" not "Arse" if we are to keep with the spirit of the program.

Absolutely complete Cock. But cumpulsive viewing at that eh? :D

But a more important quetsion ... cool cock or uncool cock?

My commute is either 60mins by bus and tram, 60 mins walk (yup the same!!!), 20 mins by a car, or an absolutely shocking 6mins by Ducati.

I saw him raving in the rave tent at the Beachdown Festival this summer.

Uncool cock.

Agreed.

There's a world of difference between seeing cars as an essential time-saving transport tool because successive governments from the 60s to the 80s systematically trashed our public transport system, and seeing them as glamourus fashion accessories for blokes with shrivelled knobs to play around in, like that macho idiot on the telly does.

Hmmm...I'm not sure I see why thinking cars are pretty cool and exciting pieces of engineering is a bad thing. Good to see ridiculous and derisive stereotypes being used though.

I don't drive and I'm not interested in cars, but I see no reason why appreciating the aesthetics and engineering of a vehicle should be any different to appreciating clothes, well-crafted furniture, well-coded software...anything practical that can also be appreciated on an aesthetic level.

And no reason you should have to have a shrivelled nob to do so really.

(Environmental and safety concerns around cars notwithstanding).

Asshole.

He just made it onto my 'celebrities I'd like to kill' list, along with Gordon Ramsay, Ewan MacGregor, and Jonny Wilkinson.

What do you have against Ewan McGregor?

I do not like the fact he had a backup crew when he did his around the world touring on motorbike thing. Everything is easy when you throw money at a problem. Would probably have a beer with the guy though (if he was buying).

I got fed up with Top Gear when it become the number 1 topic at dinner parties, did you see this one or did you see when they did that. Its only a show people get over it. As far as I am concerned you get nothing out of it at all, its just a complete waste of time watching it. Mindless entertainment I think is the term?

When you sit at a party and realise that every male there has watched every episode it is sad. Well I think its sad. People probably think I am sad spending over 7 hours a week training, also a complete waste of time.

In conclusion life is a complete waste of time, but I would rather be the one wasting my time doing crazy random things than watching some other people doing them.

I did cry (only a little) when he drove a Lancia Beta in Africa sniff sniff..

[begin rant] Given that our planet is choking with pollution, that oil reserves are not going to last forever and that the diminishing habitats our wild animals depend on are still being destroyed to make way for new roads, I’d say that there are two ways we can respond to this.

We can either regard driving as a luxury, with every car journey being weighed up for importance vs convenience before we embark on it, or we can just drive everywhere we want in increasingly large and status-symbol vehicles, and act like there’s no tomorrow.

TV presenters like those wankers seem hell-bent on persuading people to have no responsibility for our planet or the communities we drive through. [/end rant]

(Besides, every woman knows that men who drive big show-off vehicles are clearly compensating for something. It’s just common knowledge )

Buzz is right though isn't he? I mean I'm a biker, an artist, I love dancing, I think Scotland's great, I'm star wars generation.

I should think this guy is great but ... he is an annoying tosser.

I make no defense of Clarkson being a cock, but I think that there is nothing wrong with celebrating the maginificence of automotive engineering and the thrill of driving. I confess to being a complete car nut. If I had enough money I would buy something completely and obscenely fast and take it to a track. The impact of owning a sports car is pretty minimal when you consider they usually last longer than other cars (people look after them), don't get driven very much and often are more efficient than large family cars.
