yes i see what you mean that makes a bit more sense, i dont need to lengthen my bike thats for sure, i need a shorter stem on my current bike, so really i'd only need about 2cm of extra stem, i think i may pop into my LBS and have a look at some different frame sizes

and don't forget about headtube length. Its mainly an issue for TT bikes, but if you are trying to optimise your aero posi and have a bike with a shorter headtube and plan to go with no or fewer spacers thnn you need a shorter top tube as the reach will be longer than with a longer headtube.

All my frames are 54com, or thereabouts. I am 5ft 10in.

My top tubes are usually 54cm too.

Cool - me too! I also agree that seat tube height is much less of an issue than top tube length (esp. considering compact frame designs..)

I'm 5'7" and ride a 50cm cuz I have t-rex arms. :-/

I'm 6"4 and my top tube is 57.5cm I think with my seat tube is 58cm I think (maybe the other way around) I find it's pretty comfortable but the geometry makes my riding position quite upright I think and the stem is spaced quite high.

Odd that Man on a bike is smaller than me but needs such a large seat post on the same size frame, different geometry?

I'm 178 cm (5'10") and ride a 54 cm. I am lucky in that I don't have much trouble fitting mens' bikes, unlike some of my other female friends. Just need some narrower bars.
