Pull ups some days...

Postby Catt Queen » Sun Oct 05, 2008 7:33 pm

How come I can do pull ups on some days, but not on others? Doesn't seem to be getting any better either... :(

Are you doing them at the different times of the day, maybe? How do you do them? Maybe assisted is the way to go?

No always in the evenings, very odd - not got anyone here who can help with assisted (not regularly anyway, as my OH is often at work when I train). I'm wondering if it's related to what I've eaten during the day? Yesterday I was bad and had chips from the chip shop and couldn't do a single pull up properly  It seems easier to do them on the outdoor circuit I use instead of at home with my pull up station.

Get yourself an Ironwoody band if you want to do some assisted work. London Kettlebells has them.

What sort of rep/set scheme are you using? What grips are you using? How often are you doing them?

Hi :)

I'm following Mike Mahler's "work out less & achieve more" plan, have been doing for the last nine weeks (since I've been training regularly again after four years out :() and am making really good progress in everything except the pull ups. Always do them with my palms facing me as that's easiest.

I'll look into your suggestion, thank you :)
