Amir Khan KOd

Postby SpugFab » Sun Sep 07, 2008 12:03 pm

Decent evening of boxing in the UK last night. Alex Arthur lost his super-featherweight title to Nicky Cook, and Amir Khan lost his first fight, shockingly knocked out within a minute by Breidis Prescott.

Will be interesting to see where Khan goes from here, he seems to be a bit chinny (knocked down by Willie Limond who is a light puncher). I reckon he can still have a decent pro career, but talk of world titles is going too far.

Interesting little article on Prescott in his training camp:

Yeah I would expect Nicky Cook to beat almost anyone in that sort of area at the moment...

Pretty poor show from Khan. You can't just stick your chin right out and not expect someone to smash it off.

I think he could have a pretty decent pro career too, but he needs to get over his ego and start from scratch with his skills. He's got great hand speed and co ordination but holes in his defence and no tatical head at all.

Hopefully such a humiliating defeat will allow him to take time with his training and come back a more thoughtful fighter.

Was good to see where Prescott is coming from. No surprise that he went out to punch Khan's head clean off. He looks pretty hungry.

Now I quite like Amir Khan, but while stranded at the train station yesterday I found his "authorised biography" in the bookshop.

Twice on the cover it refers to him as "olympic champion" and compares him with Ali :?
