Vegan Strength Gathering Germany - 21.-23. Nov '08

Postby Kryptonite V » Sat Aug 02, 2008 7:23 am

Hi friends.

I want to host a strength gathering at my place.
The main idea is to bring the forum members together for training, eating and having fun :D

Image

The Hall has weights for beginners and strong strongmen alike, so everyone is welcome, whether you want to try strongman stuff for the first time or show the other forum strength athletes how much you've improved since the last meet up :)

Apart from the training and competing in The Hall, there will obviously be much hanging around, trash talk and vegan food. Trips to the water park /thermal bath, high wire garden and veg restaurants are possible.

The main event will be on a weekend, but it will be possible for you to stay longer before and/or after. As i said, i'll take a week off from work, but of course, every forum member is always welcome to stay at my house any time!

We will have a friendly strongman competition, but only if enough people are up for it. Maybe a challenge for beginners/non-strongman athletes and another one for strength athletes. I'll think on it and am open for suggestions.
These are the events as planned at the moment. Please give me feedback on them! I will edit the events here every time they change (for example when i get new equipment :D ).

- Two classes: Superheroes and Sidekicks (Beginners and Heavyweights if you insist)

Possible Superhero class events:
- Medley: 120kg Farmer's Walk 15m plus 3 tyre flips. 90sec time limit.
- Log for max weight.
- Yoke around 280kg for 25m.
- Atlas Stones 80-150kg.
- Husafeld stone approx. 100kg max. distance (turns every 15m).
- Loading race, 3 barrels 90, 110, 120kg for ~10m and load onto ~120cm platform, then 180kg block for 10m, loading onto 2 pallets.
I would like to have some kind of dragging as well.

Sidekick class events:
- 60kg Farmer's Walk for max distance (turns every 15m).
- Small Tyre flip max reps in 2min.
- Husafeld stone approx. 55kg for max. distance (turns every 15m).
- 35kg log for reps, floor to overhead, time limit 2min.

The sidekick events should be doable by a wide range of people, they focus on endurance rather than max strength. To perform well you need to be quite fit, but even if you're not, you can still move the weights.

Looking forward to meet you all,
Kryptonite V
:)

You mentioned the magic words 'thermal bath' so I'm up for this!

Will the winner be the friendliest strongman?

Hooray! :D

.flux, looking forward to seeing you again!
I suppose you will drag your husband with you? He needs to come and have a go at the shiny equipment i've got here ;)

Killer, i don't require a Visa from you :P

Duke, don't be silly.
The winner will, obviously, be my strongest friend :)

AnnKatrin, it will be in the very western part of Germany, in Nordrhein-Westfalen. I won't put my adress online, everyone PM me for travelling details.

I will probably make T-Shirts for the event. Who wants one? I'll post the design as soon as i've made it up :P

Also, i will contact various companies and organizations asking for sponsors, so it's likely there will be prizes for the athletes.

Hey man, I'll definitely be down for this. Might be tough for me to get a whole week off work though, so maybe Thu-Sun or something is more likely.

I'll have a look at dates and let you know what suits, but it should be early enough for me to make it regardless.

T-shirts sound like a good idea, I know some good graphic designers who could put together a funky design for us if you like?

Sounds too interesting. Yesterday just bought small weights because I'm also interested in this kind of sports, not only running. Because of being a newbie this meeting could give so much inspiration. I also love Haribo's Pasta Frutta, German music (Das Ich, Diary Of Dreams, Deine Lakaien...) and travelling, new places and cultures... I think I have no money and no time... Not sure yet but it would be like a miracle if I would attend.

I'm interested in this (even though I don't know what a high wire garden is! Is it where we learn circus skills? If so, I am definitely up for that!)
Can't do much more than a long weekend either, but sounds good.

Oh and yeah, I'll have a t-shirt! :D

Sounds good and shiny my man. I don't mind about dates really, but would most likely be a long weekender for me as well.

Woohoo :D

So you doubt my graphic design skills?!
...
You're more clever than i thought! :P
It would be cool if you could ask them about it. Just make sure you mention that the design needs to be shiny, disco and involve colourful superheroes :D

Killer,
it barely ever snows around here :)

Violetti,
it would be awesome if you could make it! (As long as you bring lots of nougat with you, Simone will be happy as well  ). There will be lots of opportunities to talk about strength training, or you could just lean back and watch the strong guys and be what we call a "strongman groupie" - like Buzz ;)

Abby,
awesomoa! :D
A "high wire garden" is like an adventure park, it's basically a place to climb and swing on wires. There are several in the vicinity, haven't been there myself yet, but it's on my to-do-list :)
Here's some info (in german, but with pics and vids): http://tree2tree.de/
It's open in winter, but there are indoor places, too.

Buzz,
great that you're in! 8)

Bronco,
you must come. Period.

Willdo, just let me know what text you want on it and I'll get them working.

In a break from Strength Gathering T-shirt tradition I think we should do sizes other than XXL though :?
