Do you play any instruments?

Postby bigdane » Thu Jul 31, 2008 7:33 pm

I played piano for eight years before quitting for six and I just recently decided to pick up a ukulele. It's now one of my favorite possessions and I've only had it three weeks but I'm so addicted! I love googling for ukulele chords and playing some of my favorite songs. I can cover a song by Sufjan Stevens, Jason Collett and Andrew Bird right now :)
It's so much better than piano ever was.

Does anyone else play an instrument, and if so, what?

classically trained in piano but very rusty. Love Chopin, Rachmaninov, Mozart, Beethoven. Also like playing blues standards. Very very rusty at piano at the moment, can just about sight read and stumble my way through stuff! Needs a lot of practising on a daily basis to be fluent.

I'm talentless.

Edit: I would like to learn how to play electric guitar, however the teenage angst left my body almost 20 years ago.

First instrument was the bass guitar - played that for 6 years and got pretty reasonable at the style I played (more technically complex punk).

Alongside that I dabbled with guitar and drums, though I am a slightly better drummer than guitarist (needless to say I am terrible at both).

I have been playing piano for the last 18months, though I have only had my own for 8. Up to about grade 3-4 standard, though I cannot sight read, and work pieces out from youtube videos.

Ukulele is really easy and sort of a gateway into guitar, I've found! Now that I play a stringed instrument I want to play them all!!! Uke is totally easy to pick up and it definitely increased my dexterity significantly.

I played bas guitar, but never really wanted to practice it to much, as I hated to play songs that last over 3 minutes (and quit the band for that reason, they went pretty metal with 6+ minutes songs)..tried to play acoustic guitar also, but am pretty talentless too

I play a vegan cycling superhero on the interwebs..haha

Haven't done much music for a few years, but used to be a recording musician.. Play guitar (electric, acoustic, classical), bass, a bit of keyboard..very handy with recording/studio software and hardware. =)

My tunes used to be on my website, but i switched servers, and haven't had a chance to repost. : \
