Take a look at my site: www.jkdunlimited.com. My entire focus is on functional self-defense, using my background in Jeet Kune Do, Filipino martial arts, Thai Boxing, Brazilian jiu jitsu, and Indonesian silat, while developing the character of each individual. I call this approach MMA For The Street.
I have been a vegetarian for 15 years. (Not vegan, because I take some whey protein and sometimes have cheese on my pizza, especially when in Italy.) Aloha!
If you are going to use martial arts training as a model for self-improvement, then you better be sure that your martial art actually works!

I really enjoy Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu....both great workouts and handy for self defense.

Tactical Krav Maga

Postby toughveggies » Thu Apr 02, 2009 11:42 pm

Some info and links for Tactical Krav Maga - enjoy!

A refined set of punches, kicks, chokes and take-downs are employed, always with the goal of neutralizing the threat as quickly as possible. Primary targets are the eyes, throat and groin, due to their susceptibility to injury, regardless of the size of the attacker. We also utilise our environment to increase our defence and learn to defend attacks from commonly used weapons.

The system is designed to be effective in real situations and our training provides you with the opportunity to practice techniques whilst under duress. This reality-based training enables you to be confident, knowing that you are ready to handle real situations. You learn to stick to the goal of neutralizing the attacker/s, no matter what, even when it’s hard, even when you are exhausted. This kind of warrior mindset is immensely powerful and rewarding. It has the potential to drive you forward in many areas of your life.

Our system is divided into ten gradable units of information. The syllabus is under continual refinement, ensuring it remains pertinent to today’s threats and situations.

Unit 1 – Striking Techniques, bursting, footwork and pre-fight training
Unit 2 – Defensive tactics against strikes whilst standing and grounded.
Unit 3 – Empty-hand Baton and Stick Defence
Unit 4 – Release from chokes, grabs and holds standing and on the ground. Defence from pushing and pulling.
Unit 5 – Knife threat defence, and defence from being held and hit.
Unit 6 – Utilising improvised weapons for defence
Unit 7 – Take-downs, throws and falls.
Unit 8 – Ground fighting
Unit 9 – Empty-hand Control techniques. Defence against handguns.
Unit 10 – Defence against long arms (rifle, shotgun etc) and third party protection.
