The Plan

Postby buzz » Fri Jan 18, 2008 1:37 pm

Finally, time for a new log.

Aims - Look good. Be strong. Improve fitness. Nail some comps. Stay healthy. Get my total up.

Diet - Eat more pies. Eat more fruit. Eat more veg (especially greens).

Lifestyle - Go out more (I love dancing 8) ). Sort out finances a wee bit. Grow some stuff. Take some holidays.

Starting point - weight at about 95kg now, and max lifts probably around 145/105/185 I'd guess, and overhead mibbie 80/85. Lost a ton of strength/weight over last month but back on track now, so should shoot back up quick enough. Plan for next couple of months is just to do linear stuff, and get back in the groove. Weight dropped off my arms and legs/ass as is genetically the way for me, so need to get the ceps back up to scratch :)

Let the games begin!

Thanks. Predicted numbers '08 = 200/140/230 and 112.5 overhead.

Other goal - lay off crack pipe...

Solid session tonight, first time I've felt fired up for ages. Didn't push the envelope too much, but was nice to feel a wee bit strong again;

Push press
w/up w/bar
6x50
10x60 - felt solid, so took it up a touch
10x62.5 - ok, only a wee touch, but strong again
3x80 - was on the bar for Jono's sets and couldn't resist. solid triple, wee bit more in there.

Front squats
6x65
2x3x95 - nice, too light tho, so took it up a notch.
2x3x105 - strong.

Diesel side bends
2x8 each side

Planks
2x1min

Farmers - 30kgx200m

Thanks Jono!

Another solid one today, kicking off at the crazy time of 8.30(ish)am  Felt pretty ok considering I'd been up 'til about 1.30am watching Mohegan Sun strongman comp live!

Warmed up with some snatches and cleans and stuff up to about 40kg.

Clean + press w/tyres
8x55
6x55
5x65
3x75 - felt decent
2x2x85 - happy to nail these, was only a week or two ago that I failed a single at 80 :?

Yoke
10mx132kg
10mx212kg
10mx272kg
No drops, and felt ok, but didn't go any heavier as back was feeling it a bit.

Incline log
8x60
4x80
4x80 - failed on 5th
11x65

Stones
2x1x80
1x100 - felt solid
1x115 - tough, but still felt good, first time I've done it for ages.

Solid session!

Yeah man, health is much better, just iron levels low (so eating spinach and shit like that (along with pies)) and also some lower back pain which I will go to a physio about, but that's why I'm being wary of doing reps and stuff with things like stones and deads for just now. Weight loss is stopped, though I amn't weighing myself too often, but caning between 3000 and 4000 calories a day again, so feel much better and stronger.

Lower back pain is suboptimal, hope it goes away soon.

Hmm, only one tiny session last week (basically 8x110 on squat, 8x65 on push press, and 8x25kg DB bench), but today went to train with a fresh approach, some may say lemony. Body is goosed from long time of over-eating and crazy training. Left hand is bit messed up and lower back/spine is consistently painful too. After getting some bumpers yesterday, The Jono and I hit the unit and 'constructed' an oly platform, and decided to get Lemon-with-it;

Clean and press
somex1x55
somex1x65
2x1x75 - got vids, technique goes to shit when it gets as 'heavy' as this, so need to work between 50 and 65 or so i'd say
fx85
somex1x55
somex1x65 - technique getting better by this point, learning to squat into the catch more, and to pull it up the body, rather than out and round the knees, and back in, in a weird arc motion

few snatches at 50kg, but all pressed out.

Stones
1x80
1x100
1x115 - felt good again this week. More pop than previously, and was warm enough to go topless for the first time since about october 8)
1x100 - sort of shouldered, nice. 100kg stone is smooth and lovely, I wanted to bring it home with me...

Let's leave it at that.

There is no press in the snatch! Pressed out=not a snatch! :D Get some vids up so I can offer useful tips/rip you to pieces.

What are "bumpers"? Is it just another word for weights?

Bumpers are weights coated in very thick rubber so than can be dropped from overhead, and they're all the same diameter from 5kg up to 25kg.

Good session, Buzz. With the bumpers, Unit 20 sounds pretty much like a fully-equipped paradise...
