weird injury

Postby Niels » Sat Feb 14, 2004 5:48 pm

I had a chest/back session yesterday. I didn't do any odd things, it all felt good....but then, like an hour after training i got this ache. When I pull my shoulders back, i get this pain in my chest. ALso when I bent my head down, or twist my upper body. It even makes it a bit painful to breath.

Anyone had this before?

I've had something similar, if it is very localised "tight spot" and it went away with massage and muscle rubs. Sauna probably doesn't hurt either! In my case it was like a tight "knot", like a localised muscle cramp or something.

Don't know if this is the same than yours though...

Sounds like either a localised spasm or possibly a pulled muscle. Try, massage, also hot/cold therapy could work. Get an ice pack, put it on the area, for a minute or so (with a towel or similar between you & the pack), then a hot bath, then ice again. Stretching could help too (don't force these "gentle" is the word here as if it is pulled you don't want any more damage). Any, or all of these could be used.
Don't workout that area again until the pain has cleared up, if it continues for any length of time, go see someone about it (just in case).

so, any nice vegan fitness girls willing to give a massage, report to me!

I think it's gonna be no training at all for a while. Since it's such a variaty of movements that hurt. Well, it doesn't really hurt that much anymore, but i can feel it...

Thanx for the advice, I'll try to locate the exact spot, and work with some ice.
