Lucy has run off and got lost again.

Lucy is (observationally) a kitten that is nearing the end of her kittenhood. But in reality Lucy is what is commonly referred to as a wilful, selfish, determined git. She is the spawn of the devil. And is if that is not enough she doesn't actually have a brain. She occasionally borrows some brain cells from another cat. On these occasions she can just about get by. When she forgets the brain cells she leaps over the back wall and sets off on a journey of enquiry with never a thought of how she is to get back.

Ah news!!!! The Duchess has just returned with said Lucy safe and sound (and more than a little indignant about being caught!!)

For those of you who know anything about cats she is a "tortie". Torties are very cute but rate only next to Siamese for causing trouble!!!

I think it hardly needs adding that the arrival of Lucy is the reason I couldn't travel to Edinburgh for the strength weekend.

So, how about some pussy shots then? (And if you like pictures of cats and you don't read my log then let this be a lesson to you!!!!!)

Friends, this is Lucy ...

From all the many years of doing rescue, and having to handle thousands of cats, I can honestly say that torties are the most temperamental by far. They are very often noticeably more intelligent and more manipulative than any other colour. It is the only colour type that we have ever noticed a personality trait in. No other colour has gained nicknames at our vets,- torties have many, 'naughty tortie' being the politest. :)

I LOVE TORTIES!(Its the evil sense of humour that does it for me!)

Lol - you've upped the bar in your attempts to increase traffic to your log

The rest of us will have to figure out how to respond.

Are you able to do any martial arts training with the back injury?

Spug, I just knew it would get them flocking! :) There are going to be some dissapointed people though :D

No martial arts training. I can now lift if I pay attention to keeping me form absolutely perfect and keep out of "the zone".

Because the problem has effected my hip so much these is just no chance of MA training. You know how much the hips are used. I'm doing loads of rehab stuff which I don't bother to log so that might help.

How come your log has now got the most views out of all the logs?? Nice cat pics though, seems like a feasible reason not to make it to the strength meet up.

Squatting singles at the magic ton seems like an ok plan to me. How are they feeling, and how is the back in general?

They seem a little unstable. Need to build that confidence back up. :(

But today DLs made their first stab at a return and that is progress eh?

Ok todays picture is "The Ace" disguised as a tiger ...

Deadlift
3 * 10 without a bar (yeah thats just bending over isn't it. But if I put bending over, it would attract unsavoury comments more suitable for a carry on film)

2 * 10 empty bar
1 * 8 * 40 kg
1 * 6 * 60 kg
1 * 4 * 80 kg
2 * 2 * 90 kg
6 * 2 * 100kg
2 * 2 * 105kg
2 * 2 * 110kg

Could have gone a little higher but held back

Squats
3 * 10 * 60kg

Nice and sicky after the DLs

Good Mornings
3 * 8 * 60kg

Pulled a bit at the groin (I don't I mean I pulled at my groin, but that the GMs did)

Ham/Glute Raise
3 * 10 bw

Hmmmmmm ... could this be the begining of real lifting again?

Looks like a solid session man. Wise not to push the deads, but good to go as far as feels comfortable I think, and good to keep reps low too.

Nice pic too. I think it might be a tiger disguised as 'The Ace' tho. Sleep with one eye open...

Do you think that looking for a 5kg increase each week until I get to my previous best is too much? Would 2.5kg be better?

All feels well this morning but totally fried!!!

5kg each week is good imo. Just don't go crazy with the reps, and listen to your body. Fried is ok. First heavy squat session in a while = wheelchair day.

When in doubt, pump the 'ceps!

Hey - I think Wainwright was on TV once or twice. He looked very familiar, then it clicked!
