Just been in the gym. Had 3 attempts at the 30 second record, two of them bombed out on about the 20 second mark.

Best attempt hit 90 turns before I backed into a punchbag on about 24-25 seconds

Next time

I'll stick the video up on youtube in a bit.

That's some fast skipping spug. Are you doing two or three turns per jump there ?

Well you're half my age and two thirds my weight and you can outlift me.

Having watched that video I know I'm doing it wrong  I jump twice, once over the rope and then a mini one. Then over the rope etc. Guess I need to spin the rope faster...

There's only two turns per jump there. I can (or used to be able to) do triples but not regularly enough and definitely not for 30 seconds.

This is the first time I've hit the top of any VF table. A truely historic day. When I top all the tables we can look back at this day as the day the worm finally turned (cyclists and runners - I'm coming for you :D)

I know the style you mean - definitely spin the rope quicker and just hop from foot to foot. I posted another youtube video showing my regular style (with music too :D ):

Thanks for that spug. No idea why I was spinning the rope so slowly  Hopefully I'll beat my record tomorrow :D

Jin - good effort. I'll break the 100 turns this week though, you'll have to up your game.

This week's edition of Boxing News (possibly the finest magazine in existence) had an article about the world skipping record. In one minute it seems the record is 251 turns (upped from 242 at the event they reported on, which seems quite a jump). I reckon at the speed I was skipping on the video I'd be good for 220 or so (going on 90 in 24 seconds).

I'll see if I can up the speed when doubling, I don't think tripling is feasible for speed skipping.

430 in three minutes. But I didn't really go for it, I'll try the 30 sec soon also. Does double jumps count as two?

I'll add my 3-minute result to this. I got 352.

Anyone have any advice or resources on improving as a skipper? I'm fairly new to it, so any suggestions would be great.
