Decided to check out 'V2Go' in the Trafford (shopping) Centre, as I'd never been to the Trafford Centre before.
Our first impression was good. We asked what menu items were vegan, and the two serving staff pointed to a list on the wall. Over half the options were either vegan or easy to adapt.
So we picked two of them - 'Burger meal', and 'Falafel meal without Tziki dip'. Both were 4.75, I think.
The burger was served up with salad and chips. A hot drink came with it. I wanted tea, but they didn't have soya milk and I'm not keen on black tea, so I chose orange juice instead, and had to pay 50p extra. It was a big juice, but I would have preferred the option of a smaller orange juice and not paying extra.
The staff put a ramekin of tziki dip on the plate with the falafel, even though we'd only just that second asked for it without! When this was pointed out, they just took it off and chucked it in the bin, which seemed very wasteful. They could have easily put in the fridge and given it to the next person. We asked for some hummous instead, and they gave us that without charging extra.
Verdict:
The burger was reasonable value. It was quite big, and came with salad and chips, so it felt like a good plateful of food.
The falafel wasn't very good value. You just get a pitta with a little basic salad and the falafels in it. There's no accompaniment to it to replace the chips that you get with a burger. I think they should offer a choice of either hummous or tziki as standard, and have a much more adventurous salad, with things like red onions, cucumber and peppers in it.
For a place to be totally vegetarian but not offer soya milk is pretty disappointing.
I'd go there again for a burger, but probably not for anything else. I haven't been able to find an email address for them so I can give feedback.
