hi I'm new here.

Postby welshkarl » Wed Jun 02, 2004 2:09 am

HI My name is Karl, I live in London, U.K. I have been a vegetarian for about a year now, and after reading about what happens to the animals in the dairy industry have decided to try to become vegan. I already have been using soy milk for some time, so I am optimisic that I won't miss dairy stuff too much, . Not looking forward to having to read the contents of everything i pick up in the supermarket though, but I'm sure I'll get used to it! I recently gave up smoking and i feel that if I can do that I can do almost everything!
I like to go to the gym, I go about 3 times a week, I have been doing this for nearly 2 years but have'nt noticed much muscle growth , but I still like going because of the afterglow I get from a good workout it just makes me feel better about myself, relieves all my stress. I also like to cycle and enjoy long walks with my 10 year old dog Tilly. I look forward to getting to know people on this site, I've had a good look round before I posted this and what I've read so far has been v. informative and intresting.

Hi Karl, welcome to the board mate!

Good to hear you are going towards veganism - i hope you'll get all the support and advice you need from this board. Anything at all, just ask. Folks here seem to know their stuff :D

i know what you mean, though rest assured. After a while you only need to read new products, and thats not very often. I can go weeks without having a look at single ingredient list because i know what i'm buying. If you think about it, normally people do not buy new products all the time, they have their own favourites and get used to certain choices. Sometimes one might get something new, but thats not all the time. To start with it is needed though.

Hey, this online database might help you:

Have you noticed, sainsburys and co-op supermarkets label their stuff suitable for vegans? Its great!

thats cool. If you change your mind and want to pack on some muscle, lets us know, there's always a reason why it is not happening :)

Hope you'll enjoy it here!

welcome Karl

I think you'll find the board to be pretty supportive of aspiring vegans, so don't be shy to ask for info or advice.

If you are interested in some muscle growth, there's plenty of good information, and plenty of knowledgeable people here. If you want help, just ask. :)

Nice to meet you, welshkarl :). I loooooove your avatar! C & H is my favorite comic strip.

Five sovereign fingers taxed the breath,
Doubled the globe of dead and halved a country;
These five kings did a king to death."
