Hi Bronco!
Nah, I don't think you're asking too many questions, 's good to ask a lot if you wanna help someone devise a programme! :)

I just really really really don't like any kind of leg exercises besides DL's so I'm bound to just skip them. And you might have gathered from my posts on a certain otehr log that I HATE squats, in any way shape or form!
My lower back's fine btw, could do with the exercise as I'm not doing anything specifically focused on that body part :)

I'm looking forward to what you're concocting for me!

You must squat woman! There is no greater exercise!

Kathryn says that she finds front squats easier than back squats sometimes, so maybe those might suit you better. I'm not saying that you have to squat to have a balanced programme.......well maybe, well yes I am really!

Yeah, and asking questions happens to be one of my specialities :D . Usually the questions are a lot more stupud than this though .

Hmm, so does this mean that you would completely refuse to do even the legpress? Have you tried hacklift?
And what about the cleans, they are not primarily a leg exercise you know. The truth is they have some similiarities with deadlifting :D .

My lower back's fine btw, could do with the exercise as I'm not doing anything specifically focused on that body part :)

Ah, thats good :) .

Well I better come up with something then ;) .

Okay, I've said it before and I won't be saying it again: I'M NOT SQUATTING!!!!! Don't care what you think of my programme, I'm not training for E'bro or the olympics or what have ya, I don't have to depend on them for my survival, so if I don't wanna do em I'm not doing em, don't care what anyone says. Got that!??

Bronco: we don't have a hack lift contraption, but I might do a leg press if that makes you feel less worried about my sanity

as long as you have fun billy - thats the most important thing - dotn do soemthing you dont want to - so i dont blame you for not squatting esp if it would put you off compeltely!

note: front squats are less painful but more awkward than normal squats!

Now now lets not make sweeping generalized statements :) . For some people frontsquats are more painful without being more awkward :D .

I do not have to squat if you do not want to, I merely suggest that not ignore the largest muscle in your body

Also, a different angle is that squatting is excellent for improving bone density, with is being a total body weight bearing exercise, which is very important for women. I used to hate squats, but if you just resign yourself to doing them each week, I'm sure you will at least learn to tolerate them :D

Ive been thinking a bit, and if you want a full body program, how about something along these lines:

Leg press
Deadlifts / Stiff legged deadlifts / Cleans (if you would suddenly feel like doing them ;) )
Pull-ups/ Lat pulls / Some kind of rowing ( barbell, dumbbell or cable )
Bench/ dumbbell presses/ Dips / Military presses / DB shoulder presses
Core stuff

The idea would be that you would choose one exercise from each row. If occasionally your back doesnt feel up for deadlifting just skip it.
Core stuff you can do what you feel like, allthough I would suggest including back extensions.
Do 2 or 3 working sets, try with two first for a while and see what it feels like.
And if you want to do this 3 times a week you'll want to stay well clear of failure I reccon.
Its possible that this could be a bit too much for the back, if it feels like it just occasionally skip either DLing or the pulling exercise.
I would suggest something like this. At least it looks fun to me :D .

I feel your pain, Billy  If it wasn't for the obligatory 5 minute ***t track at the start of every BodyPump class I do, I'd never do them. I love lunges though, not quite the same, but at least there is one leg exercise that doesn't kill me.

At this moment I can think of only one thing that is denser than my bones!
Now cut it out!

LOL !! See, women understand these things waaaay better!!! Just proves the point I made a little while ago on someone else's log!:D

Lunges...errrrr..... I'm just no good at balancing, I'm always about to topple over when I try them Embarassed Now don't y'all tell me that that'd be THE reason to do them, so that my balance would improve. That is WAY too obvious!

Good grief, what with all this malarkey, I almost forgot to update my bloody log! Did body combat today!! I really noticed the week off, totally forgot most of the new routine. There seems to be a general consensus in our class tho, that the new release is a bit of sh!te. Bring back the bagpipes!!

I find dumbells best for lunges - keeps the weight stable each side and i never feel top heavy like i do with a bar on me shoulders. They are a great exercise for me, especially when i had no where to (i'll blank the word out, as i think it has been mentioned quite enough on this log already  ) ***** :D

So do you think they will respond to requests to bring back the old routine?

What they seem to do is teach the new release until people more or less get it and then mix it up with the older ones. The great thing about not having done bc for a very long time is that I don't know much of the older releases, so to me it's like I'm getting bits of new releases all the time once they start mixing them up :)
