"I'm back!" she says for the millionth time. OK... third or fourth, maybe.

I have missed you, VF. You help me feel like I have a vegan community even when there is not much of a vegan community where I am.

I'm crawling back out of shape, minus a few bikes and too broke to race but also minus a giant pile of stress that has been plaguing me for the better part of a year. So, back on the bike, back to vf and time to look forward to getting back in shape and long summer rides!

It being very not-summer at the moment though I must start on the trainer as my winter bike was stolen last spring. To get my legs back without hurting myself I'm starting with 30 min spins on the trainer and increasing that by 15 minutes a week through March. Any other suggestions are welcome!

It's looking likely they I will be back to Greenland for 3 weeks of fieldwork in late April/early May then to a meeting in London. I'm still considering working in some running so I don't lose progress while away.

I'm on a roll!
Of two days....

Gotta start again somewhere!

Working through the stage of getting back on the bike where your butt hurts so bad you want to do the entire ride standing up on the pedals!

Well 3rd day of 30 min on the trainer and I'm already feeling the better (and sorer) for it.

Thanks for the welcome back, Mr.C. I am still pluggin' away at the PhD, 2 years down and another 2 to go. Still keeping me entertained though and I'm looking forward to getting back in the field. I need to read your brevet re-cap when I have a minute!

No ride Tuesday night but another 30 minutes on Wednesday. Two more days at 30 minutes to go and looking forward to bumping that up to 45 min on Saturday... though unsure of how I am going to fit the trainer in around having an extra 5 seven and eight year olds around around from noon Saturday to noon Sunday and all the associated birthday cake baking, pizza making, treasure hunt plotting etc.

Thanks Fredrik!

Got a nasty cold on Thursday, but not getting discouraged by it and will get right back on the bike as soon as I am not such a mess. Based on what my boyfriend went through prior to me getting his cold... I should be good to ride Sunday or Monday.

Cold tripped me up for a few days but I bounced back pretty quick. Have upped my trainer rides to 45 minutes. I am feeling like it is taking forever for my arse to adapt to being on a hard saddle again.

Still not sure if I am actually going to race at all this year. I feel like it is a better plan just to enjoy riding again, which I am, and see where that goes.

We had some really nice March weather here so I've been able to ride outside. Yesterday got a good hour and a half in and rode the rolling hills along with the boyfriend and every other cyclist in the city it seemed. Took me a long time to warm up but then felt pretty good.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to get in another outdoors ride, even if I have to dig out the armwarmers etc. again.

I realize this is a pretty lazy training log at the moment but I don't see much point in cataloguing everything at the moment when I am just getting my body used to riding again. I'm also still trying to work up the motivation to start running so I don't lose all my fitness gains when I'm off for a month for fieldwork in Greenland and a meeting in London.

Good to get out riding in the sun and warmth again, eh? It sounds like a good plan to just enjoy riding again and see where that takes you. :)
