trying to get tighter at the bottom but can't do it with any worthwhile weight, only result seems to be making depth rather debatable- still letting myself count the PBs this time though not if I do it again. Will maybe try lighter squats on deadlift day to practice

tried belt, only difference it seems to make to me is showing of my back flexibility better. Also learned that the style I bench I used does make lift off harder and it's not all in my head/some strange weakness that not using a proper comp bench feels difficult as fuck

DB incline: 14kg x5 20kg x5 24kg 2x8, 6

Push press: 40kg x5 50kg x3 60kg x3


Going to (attempt to) keep a video log too, I film myself a lot for technique but makes sense to be able to look back over it instead of deleting it all at the end of a session

A deadlift PB! :D Bit tokenistic a PB even by my old standards but still happy to pull any PB. Supersetted with stroking and drooling over the elieko bar.

Paused ATG front squat: 20kg x5 40kg x5 50kg x5 60kg x5 70kg 2x3

Some DB rows, got too hungry so stopped early

Forgot to film, was distracted by shiny newness. New gym is pretty much as good as I could ask for, good bars, platforms, proper benches, people who are stronger than me and even a sauna.

some attempts at cleans, I've lost my mobility for rack position

some attempts at OH squats, decent given no shoes

tried spin bike, it was painful

tried the softer seated bike, the seat was so wide my thighs were rubbing against it

tried a weird twisty thing, twas weird

did some one motions, not really cardio



30th Nov

112.5=squint misload. Been slightly ill the last few days but deadlift killed me, was going to do a few rows too but decided it was fighting a loosing battle if I can't get the right weight on the bar or notice I'm lifting a squint weight

brought my stance in a good few inches to get more quad in it, previous stance is inappropriate for front squats really but felt all awkward

I have a chest infection now, rather predictable cause asthma + didn't mange to get flu vaccination, but feel ok so went with doing 531 but bit reduced

felt fine strength-wise but chest infection will probably linger for forever, will do lesser session tomorrow as well then go back to normal




7th Dec

I realised my deadlift technique work are gone off on a tangent really in worrying about my upper back and my set up wasn't working for getting tight. I was trying a different way but a guy came and told me what I was doing wrong which helped a lot. Not getting it quite right but still improved. Slow between reps cause I couldn't get a worthwhile amount of air in.

DB row 20kg x5 30kg x5 40kg 2x5

first time pressing in shoes and was playing with elbow position. It was wobbly on first set of 55 so took my shoes off and was fine so don't like them. Undecided on elbow position

in the sense of significantly closer than my normal grip

Machine seated press: 20kg 3x10

Not good. First set with new elbow position, it did feel less stable. Second set (didn't film it) was normal elbows and whilst more stable just as weak.

I'm investigating getting therapeutic exemption so to be able to compete with BDFPA next year and the initial response was pretty much 'dunno' but a nice one so I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm not buying a new belt because of IPF's new BS rules and thought BDFPA was rubbish around Manchester so had given up. They are shit in the North but someone with an actual grasp of English geography pointed out that Wales and the Midlands aren't far away. I'm yet to be convinced my deadlift will ever not be shit but if I get less fat my bench is reasonable as is.

I realised I'd never back squatted in oly shoes, don't like it, resulted a sort of oly style low bar squat. Took my shoes off for second 60 set and felt much better
