thanks IronGirl. it's funny how in your training log you talk about 'short' distances like half marathons  i've got quite a way to go! well done with your triathlons.

today i ran about 5.8 km (was meant to be 5 but i took a wrong turn exploring a part of my neighbourhood i'd never been to before). it took about 45 mins.

Yeah but when I started I could not even run to the end of the road. The first time I went out I must have looked so bad, a neighbour stopped in their car and offered to give me a lift home.
Keep at it Doggles it gets easier.

(5 mins fast run, 2 mins jog) x 6 = 5.75km on the treadmill today. i think my running is getting a bit faster because i couldn't sustain this pace a few weeks ago.

fri 1st of july
body balance class after work. i was feeling really tired beforehand but it perked me up a bit.

saturday 2nd
bit of cycling to warm up
some weights and back extensions. i haven't done these in a while and i found i couldn't lift quite so much as the last time.
4 x 200m hill 'sprints' (i use the term very loosely!)
i can't believe such a short distance could have me puffing and panting so quickly! it was really hard. i did it on the treadmill at an incline of 15% and a speed of 8km/h. half way through each one i found i had to hold onto the bar for fear of not keeping up and falling off the back. would it be better to go slower/at less of an incline and be sure that i could actually run it without holding on?
a few ab crunches /stretches

sat 9th july

slow jog to warm up and down and 4xhill sprints, outside. i'm not sure if the hill is long enough, i think it may only be 100m, but that felt like plenty!

sun 17th july

richmond old deer park 10k
about 1hr6mins, i forgot to look at the seconds. it was chip timed, so i'll check the website in a day or two. the first time i had run the distance, so i'm pleased with that. i jogged the whole way, except for two brief walks at the water stations. i probably could have pushed myself a bit more. next time i'd like to get under the 1 hour mark. the weather was perfect - overcast with a slight breeze so not too hot. the rain held off until after the finish. it was a good morning, very enjoyable. i went to a nearby cafe called 'tide tables cafe' and had some lunch. nice place. i'd love to go back and visit kew gardens sometime.

edit:
chip time 1hour 6mins 10seconds

19th july
tuesday's run was an epic fail. i did the race on sunday and then a long day at work on mon (7.30 - 20.00) and was just tired and my muscles were a bit stiff. also, i didn't get out the door early enough, and as i still don't have a watch, i was worried i would be late for work. i was supposed to do a 40 minute fast run, but i ended up walking half the way and cutting the route short.

21st july
today was much better. supposed to be a 50 minute easy run. i planned a 6.35km route, but went a bit faster than i expected, so finished in 45 mins.
