Spike's log

New log time!

I've been really busy so no time to do a log and not as much time as I'd have liked for training, but still been going to taekwondo 1-3 times per week for the past few months.

I jacked in my part time job to be a full time student and it is *really* full time plus 1.5 hours commute each way every day.

Last few weeks I have been to training more like 3 times per week than 1, which is good. Also been for a run and a couple of gym visits so feel like I'm back doing a reasonable amount of exercise.

I've been trying to eat healthily recently, I need to consciously do this as I get sucked into eating too many cakes and biscuits if I'm not careful.

Going to log gardening and general a-b walking as well, to keep laziness at bay.

walking - over an hour

Tuesday 16/11/2010

walking - about an hour altogether
taekwondo - 1 1/2 hours. Not too hard physically, working on kicking for breaking, breaking and technical patterns, fixed sparring.
also went to the infamous G-camp Thai kickboxing for 45 minutes before TKD.

We were planning to go to yoga for a relaxing stretch before TKD but the class was full. Lack of footwear meant that g-camp was the only other option. The instructor seemed really sound and said it was fine that we wanted to leave early to get to taekwondo on time, said we'd love it and could have our money back if we didn;t like it. We weren't sure what to expect but he said there'd be a warm up and pad work which sounded fine.
It was one of those classes where the "warm up" is more like a load of press ups, running and leaping about that makes you think "if this is the warm pu WTF will the main bit of the class be like???!!!" The padwork was actually pretty easy. There were loads of other beginners and although we were working on fairly lengthy combinations it was fine - don't think I could have remembered a series of about 10 techniques if I'd never done anything remotely simliar before though. Probably won't go again unless it is on over Christmas when taekwondo is off. The kicks are different for starters and I don't wanna confuse myself. Also I don;t fancy full contact sparring, not that there seemed to be that much contact going on amongst the people who were sparring, didn;t notice anyone getting knocked out, but suppose I was concentrating on the padwork really.

So yeah, feeling the effects of yesterdays workouts today!

Yeah, weather does not help at all!
I'm planning to drag myself down to the gym this afternoon. I may even get a membership as the price doesn't sound ridiculously extortionate right now. I hesitate today it's cheap!
so it's been ree weeks since I did any training and I've barely walked further than to the bus stop because the allotment is frozen, so no point going there, and I've not been to Sunday training which is normally a good walk. Meh. Let's see how I get on in the gym this afternoon. Going to take it easy, just be good to get back into the habit and break into a sweat again!

Yay, I went to the gym and survived. It was quiet which was nice. managed 4k on the treadmill in just under 29 minutes. Also lifted some puny weights and got a years membership staring from January, works out as three quid a week.

Keep giving me a kick up the arse and I may even do some stretching at home over the next few weeks.

Not a lot to report. just updating to get back in the habit (and as a way of putting off doing the things at are more urgent than updating a log with a non-update!)
went to the sales today. All the snow in the city centre has been cleared so it was a really nice change to be able to walk about normally without fear of slipping over. Forecast says it will finally get abov freezing tomorrow which will hopefully mean more walking and possibly even a bait of running outside :)
