I've been doing things a bit differently the last couple of weeks. Routine looks like this -
Dumbbell clean & jerk/press
Pushups & abs
Dumbbell bench, rows, curls
With Squat, deadlift, bench, press I Stick to sets of 5, 3, 2 and work up in weight. I've been using the Slingshot for some overload on the bench, usually a couple of doubles with 20 kg more than I did on the last raw set. Sometimes I'll do some deadlifts against bands at the end too.
This is what I did today.
DB Snatch, sets of 6 up to 30 kg - These are really just a good warmup.
Bench - 5 x 60, 3 x 80, 2 x 100 kg. Slingshot on - 2 x 120 kg.
Deadlift - Warmup, then 5 x 140, 3 x 160, 2 x 180 kg.
Dumbbell bench - 5 x 28 kg, 5 x 36 kg, 5 x 40 kg.
Dumbbel Rows - 3 x 5 x 50 kg.
I've set myself a goal of only using 20's and 10's for the main lifts. In the words of James Henderson, "Why play with little change when you can go for the big dollars?" So as for progressing, well I'll stick to a weight until I own it and then move on.
