[quote="Lordmuppet"][quote="Goob"]it's like 2 weeks since I put anything in my log

Been working way too much these last few weeks so I won't have to work much these next two weeks and it's been taking it's toll. Only making it to the gym 2x a week and then I pretty much just squat and go home to eat/shower/sleep.

I broke my cheap velcro lifting belt on a 195 lb squat last week, so going higher reps again till my new belt gets here from buzz. I was planning to wait till I could fit the XL before I got one, but tape says only 33 inches around the middle so had to get large. I ordered the 13mm double prong one, mostly because it said SPECIAL PRICE £ 34.99 in orange letters underneath and I figured I might as well go way overboard if it will be a bit cheaper.

Bodyweight up to 180 lbs (81.6 kg)

Been relying on chinese takeout to keep calories up, which is very easy and tasty but not so cost effective

you need Buzz's belt! This you know.

edited to say: Reread and saw you are planning on getting a Buzz belt. Okay so I wrote while inebriated and speed read your post so sue me ;)

Not only planning on getting a Buzz belt, already ordered it, just waiting for it to come in the mail :P

12/26/2011

Gym was closed so did some bodyweight stuff at home

Push ups
18, 18, 14 , 10

could do 25 in the first set this time last year, so a bit disappointed

Reverse Crunches
15, 15, 15, 15

Pull ups
4, 3, 3, 2

Cardio

~60 foot sprints 7 laps, 6 laps, 6 laps

running full speed touch and turn, suicide style, ~1 minute between sets

these sucked terribly, next time will try with a weighted vest

I hadn't done push ups in quite a while, maybe 9 months, so I guess dropping from 25 to 18 isn't so bad. Still waiting for my belt, I'm sure it's coming with a big squat pb, so will be worth it.

12/28/2011

been a while since I've done reverse crunches and abs so sore today

Bench
1x10@ bar
1x10@ 75 lbs
1x5@ 100 lbs
1x5@ 125 lbs
1x1@ 140 lbs
1x1@ 150 lbs pb
1xf@ 160 lbs - a bit too optimistic  155 might have went

Deadlift
2x10@ 135 lbs
1x5@ 185 lbs
1x3@ 225 lbs - most I've done without a belt, so pretty happy with that

Leg Curl Machine
2x10@ 80 lbs
1x12@ 80 lbs

Cable Tricep Push Down w/rope handle

1x?@80 lbs - lost count at 37 because was trying to ignore abs burning, but did quite a few more till triceps were burning more than abs

Didn't know the gym closed early today so no training for me :( Won't be open again till tuesday either.

I've decided that the no plan lifting routine is not good enough so will be starting on 5/3/1 the beginning of the year. I read the book the other day and it seems simple enough but will probably read it again because I'm still confused on assistance work. I'm thinking the boring but big plan will be best for me since I am still a noob, but will do front squats as deadlift assistance instead of 5x10 deads. That is just way too much volume for deads right now, also I don't like just squatting once a week.

Not sure how much weight to use for 5x10, but will see how that goes when I come too it.

January 2011 lifts

Squat - 105 lbs (47.6 kg)
Bench - 95 lbs (43 kg)
Dead - 125 lbs (56.7 kg)
Total - 325 lbs (147.3 kg)

December 2011 lifts

Squat - 205 lbs (93 kg)
Bench - 150 lbs (68 kg)
Dead - 275 lbs (124.7 kg)
Total - 630 lbs (285.7 kg)

Got home today and there was a little yellow card in the mail box that said they didn't feel like delivering my buzz belt, so I will have to go pick it up on the other side of town tomorrow. If I can make it down to the post office before they close I may have to deviate from the plan already

Also, I think I pulled an ab muscle moving a ~100 lb box of computer parts. Can that even happen?

1/2/2012

Overhead Press
1x5@ 55 lbs
1x5@ 65 lbs
1x10@ 70 lbs

2x10@ 60 lbs
1x10@ 50 lbs
2x10@ 45 lbs

Started off too heavy for assistance, next time I think will try 50 lbs for all those sets

Pullups
2,2,2,2,2

Pulldown
5x10@ 100 lbs

terrible pain from pulled ab thingy the whole workout especially during pullups

Sounds like a good plan. I wouldn't too much about the assistance work; it really doesn't matter what you do provided you don't go overboard & let your recovery suffer.

If I have one piece of advice with 5/3/1 is don't obsess over it. I nearly went insane trying to plan it and changing stuff about all the time. Just pick one of the templates and stick to it (boring but big or triumvirate good).

The new version of the 5/3/1 ebook also has full body training in it and how to do it with 5/3/1 (squatting more). Haven't tried it but looks good if you want to squat more than just once a week (which is always good).

I think I will pick 50% of my 1rm for the assistance sets, but will see. I don't want it to be easy, but I want to be able to get through the sets without failing.

It's definitely in the muscle, so I don't think its a hernia. It is quite a bit better today, despite having just ignored it, so can't be too bad.

I have set the assistance already and plan to stick with it for a while. Am doing the boring but big, just trying to figure out the weight. I think back squat one day and front squat on another day is good though for squatting.

Picked up my buzz belt today, so I had to test it. It came with a 20 lbs squat pb

1/4/2012

Squat
1x10@ bar
1x5@ 95 lbs
2x5@ 135 lbs
1x3@ 185 lbs
1x1@ 205 lbs
1x1@ 215 lbs pb
1x1@ 225 lbs (102 kg) pb

Stoked about 2 plate squat. Form wasn't terrible either

Back with 5/3/1 from now on for at least a few months

1/5/2012

Bench
2x10@ bar
1x5@ 90 lbs
1x5@ 100 lbs
1x15@ 115 lbs

Dumbbell Bench
1x10@ 25 lbs
1x10@ 30 lbs
3x10@ 35 lbs

Terrible at these

Dumbbell Rows
1x10@ 25 lbs
1x10@ 35 lbs
1x20@ 40 lbs

Cable Tricep Pushdown w/rope handle
1x50@ 50 lbs

also did random pull ups, but only could do ~10 or 12 the whole time I was there

1/6/2012

Deadlift
1xsome@bar
1x10@ 135 lbs
1x5@ 160 lbs
1x5@ 185 lbs
1x9@ 210 lbs

Front Squat
1xsome@ bar
5x5@ 95 lbs

Leg Curl Machine
1x10@ 60 lbs
1x10@ 70 lbs
1x10@ 80 lbs
1x10@ 90 lbs
1x8@ 100 lbs

random pull ups throughout

was planning on 5x10 for front squat, but I can't even do 10 good reps in a set with just the bar, so will be 5x5 till I get better with form and more comfortable with the bar placement
