Devilbat's training!

Postby Devilbat » Sat Jun 25, 2011 3:14 pm

Howdy ya'll today I got it in my head to start a simple food and exercise log, so i can get some feedback from anyone really who wants to help a fellow vegan out.

I started off the day by consuming a home made shake consisting a cup of soymilk, 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds. a banana, 2tbsp of peanut butter, 2 tbsp of flax meal, 2 tbsp of coconut cream. I'm not really a carb counter due to the fact that almost all the carbs I get are from good sources. Would count them if I was munchin on candy and soda though. the shake had 760 calories and 31 grams of protein.

Workout will consist of 5x20 squats(moderate weight deep breathing)
4x16 alternating lunges
Infinite calf raises( just do 'em till I can't stand it!)
It may seem like a a short workout but those squats will take the life right out of you! This week I have changed up to more of a hypertrophy style program. I just basically want to build up my whole body in general for awhile. I will post more food totals as the day goes by. :D

Shake sounds solid. Starting strength sounds like a better beginners program than what you're doing although you're squatting which is better than most manage when they set out!

Alright folks just came back with an update! First off let me start by mentioning the food since the shake. So far:Box of raisens, Tbsp of peanut butter, 1 cup of dark red kidney beans, 1 flour tortilla-560 calories/22 grams of protien. Post workout shake was toned down a bit( took out peanut butter and replaced with 1/2 cup of kidney beans, no flax meal) everything else intact-540 calories/28 grams protein. Bringing everything so far to 2160 calories/ 93 grams of protien all before dinner!

As for the training part, boy howdy what Lordmuppet said is the truth. I saw baby jesus being held by grown jesus it was that crazy! 5x20 squats is a complete shock to my system, back in the day I would have never tried such a thing, but these are new times! Good thing bout 20 rep squats is you get alot of mental toughness from doin them. I have spirit and determination, but god damn! Last set was brutal but got through it by pretending R. Lee Ermey was yelling at me  After that the lunges where tearin me a new one, but got through it by cussin alot, and then standing calf raises to the point where the lactic acid is melting your bones are always a treat. Overall I was proud of myself for accomplishin something I had never tried before! I used to be a leg training advocate and enthusiast, but I admit lately have become a lazy shit when it comes to it. THOSE DAYS ARE FUCKING DONE!!!!!!!!!!! REal quick addition is dinner-1 Tofurky sundried tomato sausage,1/2 cup of baked beans, 3/4 cup of lentils-570 calories/50 grams of protein and just had a snack- a cup of raisen bran 210 calories/4 grams protien. Making my days total 2,940 calories/ 147 grams of protein. What you guys think too much or too little or just right?

Already folks Sunday was a day off but a bad one ended up eating a solid breakfast but then went out with my brother cause he wanted shoes. Ended up not eating a damn thing for 4 1/2 hours till he offered to get me Taco Bell( I have absolutely no money these days) But I managed to get a hearty dinner.
Yesterday was a mighty pain in my ass, ended up asking a friend to help me with gas to get me to this job I really wanted. Got there and the manager said" Actually the people that were leaving ended up not being able to, so we won't need people anymore". After all the trouble that I went through just to get there print out an app( Sounds minor to you guys but a monumental effort for me) life once again decided that i'm a dying plant in much need of fresh shit. Earlier that day I tried doing a abdominal/ grip workout started off fine and energized, but then my old man came out to dish out usual bullshit of the personal nature and I lost motivation. Ima list what I did before rage consumed my soul - weighted side bends, weighted situps to weighted crunches, leg raises, planks, and finally windmills. Today ima do a chest/ grip workout and I hope it doesn't get interrupted!

all problems can be solved by lifting heavier shit. At least that's what i tell myself.
Not allowing stuff life throws at you to interfere with lifting goals is part of training I think so think of it as good practice :) Me, I'm trying to write a dissertation while I train.

Alright the chest/tricep/grip workout went as follows-
Decline pushups
Machine presses
Floor presses
Tricep push-downs
supinated tricep extensions
Dumbbell grasp( wrap your hand around the top of a dumbell thats placed vertically with your palm on top and lift up the weight with your fingers) 6X
One arm deadlifts(one of my favorites)
levering a weighted on one side adjustable dumbbell

Overall ive been noticing my muscles are much fuller from doing a hypertrophy program. Before I was doing strength, but i'm getting to the point where to proceed with heavy weights will start getting dangerous with shoddy equipment( sounds like ima being a sissy but I dont got no health insurance)
