Never sure if you are taking the piss out of the idea or not ninearms  but I meditated to Pulse Demon. Hectic and really no more or less weird that the whale music I'm sometimes forced to endure in yoga meditations.

soniczip - those two albums aren't in Spotify, but I found Hair Gun on youtube, I'll try it later. Really like Merzbox, no idea how I have managed not to have noticed him all these years. This is what I love about VF, so much collective knowledge about all kinds of random stuff.

Deadly serious! In fact, when Luka's reflux was still undiagnosed we used to play him Pulse Demon and he'd stop crying instantly. We even had it permanently in the CD player in the car!

If you ever get the opportunity to see Francisco Lopez perform live I'd absolutely recommend it. Probably the best noise meditation I've ever experienced.

That's a cool story :-)

Thanks for the tip. I found this. Interesting. Really never crossed my mind to use this music in this way but it's quite logical really.

Merzbow is cool! I haven't listed to this for years, I'll have to watch all these clips when I get home from work. This training log is turning into a music thread. haha

I came to your log to see what's new with you and find all this crazy and amazing music instead :) . Is there even a genre for this organized chaos? That aside, and summer vacations aside, I'm so happy that you are starting MMA! That is hardcore 8) , that and the tattoo. Can't wait to see it when its done :)

15/6 Wednesday

Weight training with my friends today, and I got them deadlifting. Thanks to Body Pump many people are already familiar with deadlifting, I just need to point out the difference between SLDL and a regular deadlift, I tend to err on the side of SLDL generally but am I working on that. They did me proud and lifted 60kg for 8 reps without blinking.

I did myself proud and managed 2 full unassisted pullups after the session so I'm really pleased, I've never done even one in my life before.

Started with deadlifts because the squat rack wasn't free and did 3x8 @60kg, I haven't deadlifted in ages, and it's hard to believe I once did almost 100 kg.

Overhead press, bane of my life. Though the max I did was only 20 kg when I weighed 60+ kgs, now my bodyweight is just under 55kg I shouldn't be too fussy. 2x8 @15 kg/ 1x8 @20 kg

squats 3x 8@ 35 kg how great would it be to squat my bodyweight, seems unimaginable really.

Renegade rows/push-ups 8 kg KB 3x8 each side with full push-ups in between, I just love these and am doing them often.

planks and side planks 60 second holds for a few sets

2 x aforementioned pull-ups

Pullups are hardcore, get on the pullup table!

Epic news, glad to hear of this.

You subbed someone in your first class? Impressive.

Oi! We can't all be sweet-smelling girlies, sweatiness is a cross we men try to bear with dignity.

Thank you but he was kind of thin and my height. He did have more tattoo's than me though and looked tough :D

 the co-owner of the gym (a woman) kept emphasising how few women come back because they are freaked out by rolling with sweaty men. They come in with their boyfriends once and never come back. She said 'doing this takes a certain kind of woman', I wonder what kind of woman that makes me

I'm already really psyched up for Saturday's class. After my tattoo is healed and they start the next round, I'm also going to do the beginners grappling course for 8 weeks so I get the basics, the Saturday class is fun but most people in it have been training a while so it's seriously deep end stuff, which is also ok because I like deep end stuff too.

Today was my Les Mills day. 3 classes back-to-back cardio/weights/yoga

Body Combat 50 mins - I don't do a lot of cardio lately, but I still love this class and it's my cardio mainstay.
Body Pump 60 mins upped my weights on bench press and endured, smashed my shoulders in a very disco manner
Body Balance 50 mins I love this class but the sad love songs are upsetting and I can't focus on the postures. Why can't we just do leg balances to Merzbow instead of goddamned Robert Kelly, grrrrr.

Clem, are you doing BJJ still?
