I'm going to put my head on the chopping block and say, I'm very sorry to say, they both seem very slightly high to me.

Using definition of crease of hip to go parallel with top of knee.

I estimated the top of your knee as being the logo on your socks. Given that i think the top of your knee is actually a tiny bit lower than this, I figured if i thought it was high using the logo then it would def be high.

I lined up a piece of paper with the logo and then looked to see if the crease of your hip went below the piece of paper and (checking several times) it doesn't seem to.

try this out yourself if you like. I might have screwed it up if the paper wasn't entirely horizontal.

next time if you had a side angle, marked the top of your knee in some way and wore different colored shirt and shorts it would be easier to tell.

not meaning to troll just providing honest feedback :(

edited to say: I realized I have trouble figuring out where the crease of your hip is. It might be a tiny bit lower than where i think it is. I'm just looking at the angle i can see between leg and torso. But yeah do the thing i did and see what you think.

thanks SonicZip! you inspired me to crank that up.

Lordmuppet: I think you are right. no chopping block necessary. :) it's really hard finding a good angle to shoot squats especially since I use the saw horses for safety. maybe i need to get the box back out to achieve depth. I'll try again next week.

and boy, isn't my squat technique wonky or what?

OK. screen-capture compared yesterdays squat depth with a previous (lighter) squat. yeah I'm HIGH (& wearing the same shirt)

Nice work! 'Fraid to say neither hits parallel for me though; have you tried box squats? I only ask 'cos you seem to rush the down part, and box squats really taught me to slow down the drop and push my hips back; both of which I think would have you nailing those weights on a daily basis. Plenty of strength there though, 160kg by the end of the year easy! ;-)

Thanks Stoatyone! yeah I used to do box squats exclusively for about a year straight. that was the last squat PB i had a year ago.

so I think I need to get another box out and give it a try again. I think I just need 1" more depth to nail parallel.

OK, cross fingers I nail my DL 1RM today...

and good thing, my Buzz belt shipped so I should have in a couple weeks. stoked for that.

Looked way to easy for a PB. Form looks pretty tight, back fairly straight maybe could smash the bar more into your shins.
There is more in the bag!

Agreed, far to easy. 400 pounds by the end of the year; no exceptions, no excuses.

that deadlift didnt look like a max, but then again, some people just lift fast, or not at all.

But your squat tells me you do sometimes lift slowly too :D

thanks all. Yeah I think if I hadn't been greedy going for the 400 right after the 385 that I could have possibly squeezed out another 5 or 10lbs. next attempt will be for 400. (after my Buzz Strength Shop belt arrives.. can't wait.)

MON:
squats: 5x10x240
bench: 3x3x200, 3x1x215
bb rows: 3x5x175
& the usual disco....

low-energy session today. had to wake up super early for something and was just tired all day. but glad i hit weights.

Belt comes standard with a 5kg PB, so you have 400 in the bag!

that's good to know. i'll expect it now.

WED:
pull-ups: 10
squats: 5x5x280
-focusing on depth and slowing my decent as per Stoaty's suggestion.
OHP: 4F/5/4x150, F/1x155
shrugs: 10x240
DL: 2/1x370
chins: 3x5x(bw+20)
planks
dips: 5x10x(bw+10)

overall: just trying to even out the speed of my reps. and get good form. decent session today.
