Wed
50 min turbo session (spinvals 17)

Thurs
Too snowy for running safely...so 30 min turbo (spinvals 1)
1k swim (water felt like treacle, not sure why!)
2x12 on lots of weights at gym

This snow is very pretty and all that - but it doesn't help the training much! Apparently we're getting more on Sat night, so the long run will be on Sat. 1 week until my 45 mile ultra... I really hope it's not snowy for that!

I know what you mean. The roads are in horrible condition here, and all of the trails have snow that comes up to my knees or more. The last thing that I want right now is an injury from slipping on the ice.

That is very exciting about your ultra. I didn't realize that it was coming up so fast! Good luck!!!

It's amazing reading about all you up in that hemisphere talking about the snow. seems pretty unreal.

Does that mean your ultra is in like 2 weeks? How are you feeling for it?

OK so

Fri - Working
Sat - 1hr 30 running in the snow - pretty dangerous
Sun - sofa & fire :-) .. oh and 3x12 bent row, bicep curl and shoulder press..

Yeah so I've always enjoyed doing ultras during the start of the year.. then move onto triathlon for the main season. I must admit though I haven't put anywhere near enough miles down for this ultra. Having said that, I've done about 15 or so of this distance, so you get a lot of mental reassurance from that and I think you just go for it :-)

My main concern is that the first 25 miles are across a bunch of paths and roads with no markings or marshals. We have a map book, but it's very difficult to work out exactly where to go (we don't follow a single path - we jump between a few and then at points leave them completely). I've done races before where I've got a bit lost - like a 50 miler which turned into a 55 miler, so I think I need to prepare myself for a long day and maybe more miles than it says on the tin. Once you're prepared for that mentally .... it shouldn't be too bad when it all goes pearshaped! LOL

Tue
7 Glorious miles running in the snow
3x12 BR, BC, SP

Been testing my new Garmin 605 (mainly for the bike) .. but thought I'd see how it did on a run round the woods. Brilliant - works a treat and hopefully means that I won't get lost on the bike later this year :-)

Wed
Feel a little iffy, so I'm tapering for Sat.. on the sofa

Sat
Country 2 Capital

Sun
Rest .. I look stupid trying to go down stairs

Mon
1k swim (managed to squeeze it in before coaching swim session).

Feel kind of normal but I think my quads will hurt tomorrow when I go for a club run. I must remember to go in the slow group ... even when other groups promise they won't go out too hard (because they always lie!)

Tue
50 minute casual run with the club. Legs are a bit stiff and sore when I try to go too fast, but general aerobic stuff is fine :-)

Tue
31 mile bike - So the first time out on the road on 2010! It was pretty cold, but quite a nice day & I represented in my vegan cyclists top. Quite happy that the few turbo session I have done seem to have got the legs in some kind of cycling shape....
