Tue - 6 miles with the club (tea night so shorter run than usual) .. did some speedwork, shin feels fine. 5 days in a row and counting

Also I signed up for my 1st event since double ironman.. oh... my.. god.... I can't believe that I ended up taking an 18 month holiday from events. Training has been patchy during that time, I need the focus of events so I'm very happy to have one paid for and in the diary

Not one to be too complacent, I have signed up for the Compton Challenge - a 40 mile ultra round the Chiltern Hills with 4000ft ascent. It's in 10 weeks and my weekly mileage has been <10 for ages! Ha!
Still I'm running it for a good friend who has suffered a brain haemorrhage and has had 2 brain ops, and fell into a coma. He's out of the coma, but the extent of brain damage is still unknown. He's only 34 with 4 kids and a wife - a tragic situation

If there is anything that will get you round a race it's a good cause, so bring on the hills I say! Proper training started for sure..
(race is 2 weeks before my wife's due date!)
