Ahem .. so another log holiday ;-)

All is good ... I feel totally prepared :-). Last night I did another night ride .. 115 miles - I cycled to the start and then afterwards to the train and then on to a mate's house, so I notched up 180 miles. Legs feel great (bit of cramp ... could be an issue n the race) and I could have gone on and then started running, so was a good weekend for my confidence.

I'm tapering now (2 weeks to race) .. but I'll squeeze in some mid distance runs this week and do a long swim at the weekend.

Last night's night ride was the total opposite of my one last month (well they were both still brilliant) ... the other had 7 people and they were all club cyclists, quite quiet. This one was roughly 1200 people, free, wonderfully "not really" organized, full of totally regular and club riders, weird bikes, fairy lights round frames, really good vibe. You cycle from London to the sea up in Suffolk, have a dip or crash out on the beach, eat at the cafe ... get home somehow. That somehow was quite interesting for me, with about 50 cyclists getting chucked off the little local train, (health and safety of course) and the police being called! Quite amusing, apart from the fact that it meant an extra 30 mile ride to the bigger station. Great ride though .. called the Dunwich Dynamo ... great website.

Ah ... the joy of a 3 week gap in your training log :-)

So I've had a lovely few weeks of sleeping in, socialising, sitting on the sofa, doing anything I want on a Sunday. But now the body and mind are a bit bored of that, and I need to start training again. I was careful not to put anything in the diary before I completed DIM ... so now I get the chance to surf event sites and try to plan my next 6 months or so.

I'd like to do a marathon, but I'd want the full 12 - 15 weeks of prep which takes me to Dec where there are very very few in the UK - so I think I might just do an ultra or 2 in Jan / Feb and then do a Spring marathon, probably pick up a few half marathons along the way. My cycling will pretty much stop now and I'll swim / run through the winter. I think next summer I'll try and do some BLDSA long swims ... maybe double Bala, or Coniston. Hmmmmm I like the anticipation of booking your next few months training / events!
