It went well so here's the plan:

:D Full Boar Middle distance Triathlon 18th September. Well it's about time isn't it!! :D

Thanks guys. I'm really excited about it now, I should enter quickly before I change my mind.

3.5 hour bike, yeah a bit mad but a very steady pace and a nice day so felt good.

Monday rest day of sorts

just around 1200m in the pool, the shoulder is improving all the time. Still needs lots of stretching and strengthening down the gym, but
able to do a mini set totalling 600m after warming up. 2 x 100, 4 x 50 and 8 x 25. That's just funny but I don't want to inflame the shoulder. It felt looser but very weak. Still 0 to 1200m in 3 days, so I should be on to monster sets before long!

My wetsuit that caused this problem has gone on ebay. Orca Evo XS in very good condition if anyone is interested.

Have done 2 daft things with wetsuits in the past 2 years.

1. Sold my snug made to measure one because I thought I'd given up triathlon.

2. Bought one on ebay, measurements sounded right, but suit makes no allowance for someone that's done a bit of swimming in the past and has a very unladylike pair of shoulders!!

I'm planning a trip to Birmingham to try some on soon. Very soon, I'm doing a sprint in 4 weeks.

Tuesday 45 min cross country run

Went out with Poppa dog who was being very bouncy! She got a lovely complement. We passed someone that remarked that "He's only a young one isn't he?" Well she's actually 8, so being a vegan runner must be good for her.

Good news on the job front too. I have an interview at a Sixth Form College on Monday.

Excellent, good luck!

and a tri in 4 weeks! It's all gotten serious now. You may even have to ride your bike a bit more often. 8)

wet suit fitting can be a pain, eh? I'm loath to ever give up the one I have now cuz it fits so nicely.

Seem to be establishing a routine now and ready to build on this first week.

1 more week of work then it's half term. I'm planning a bike fest.

Backed off training on sunday to prepare for mondays interview. Wish I hadn't botherd there was an internal candidate and it was fairly obvious that they wanted her. Maybe this is just the UK system.....they have to advertise a job and go through the interview process, even if they want an internal applicant. It's blinking annoying!!
Also heard on the grapevine that the college where I had my interview are also starting a "curriculum review" this week. Nowhere is safe it seems.
A vegan business bekons..... maybe?

Those bike rides are coming........watch this space!

Sunday
ran to the gym (~10min) did a circuit of exercies to mobilise and start to strengthen the shoulder. Ran home
Bench press, military press, tricep dips, lat pull downs, bicep curls, upright row, shoulder shrugs, side lifts?
very low weights (too embaressing to mention ......... this is a rehabilitation exercise!!) 3 x 10 of each
mobility very much improved, paricularly noticable on the lat pull downs as I can now pull the bar down and finish with the bar behind the head, hands to shoulder.
Can now get a bar (yes bar alone.... haha) onto shoulders ready to do squats, but there is something still pulling when in that position. It's going to be a while before I can put any weight on the bar to actually do some good for my legs. I know squats are the best all round exercise for legs, but the leg press will have to do for the forseeable future.

Monday 1500m Swim as
600 warm up Mixed stroke and drills
8 x 100m pull
100m cool down (arms too shot to do any more...... hopeless! a long long way to go)

Tuesday 1 hour 40 min Bike
with 4 x 10 min hill rep .......... big ring all the way.
Used a hill down towards Cradley on a quiet back lane, has a good 8 min climb, levels out just enough to let you get a breath and then hits you with a stinger at the top. Real stand on the pedals and gasp sort of thing!
Felt like a bike ride.

Wednesday

45 min Run as
20 min steady
20 min tempo
5 min easy

1600m Swim as
400 mixed stroke warm up
1 x 400
2 x 200
8 x 50

argh, what a pain. No it is not just the UK system. It's pretty much the same everywhere I think. It doesn't always work out as planned though. I had a friend who managed to "steal" a job (in France) from the intended future researcher because she was just too perfect to pass up!

What level/age students does "college" imply in the UK? there are a variety of definitions around the globe it seems.

Well done on the hill reps. :)

College mainly means 16 to 18 years old in the UK. Pre-University.
There are a few exceptions eg the Oxford Colleges that make up Oxford University.

Friday Commute by bike:-
1 hour bike
1 hour 20 min bike with 2 X 20 min time trial efforts. Then grovelled up the final hill to get home!

The good news is it's half term...... so here we go! hehe!

Shoulder more improved both flexibility and strength.

No swimming - pool shut for bank holiday.
