Maybe I'm high on endorphins or something, but I feel really good. Probably because my run mileage is really low at the moment.

Touch wood no niggles, no stiffness and ready for whatever phase III throws at me. <Touch Wood!!>

Really enjoying the Spinervals program, it's making me really mix up the training and stopping me from doing everything in my comfort zone.

Sunday

Day 27 of the Spinervals Super 6 Challenge.......warmed up with a 30 min run around Brockhampton Estate with the dogs, then onto the turbo for Spinervals 7.0 "Uphill Grind!".

Monday

Easy day. Spinervals 23.0 "Recovery and Technique".

Tuesday (New Years Day)

Last day of the Spinervals Phase II Challenge, so a big special day today.
My very own New Years Day Half Ironman.
Spinervals 13.0 "Tough Love"
3 hour session with lots of tempo work straight into
1 hour 45 min cross country run. Hilly route which was even tougher than usual as it is so MUDDY!!!!!
Meant to keep the run fairly aerobic, but the nature of the beast meant you had to push hard to keep moving. Besides it was great fun powering through the mud with my mud claws!

So that's phase II of the Spinervals super 6 challenge complete.

Phase III starts tomorrow - apparently there is rest for the wicked, it starts with a rest day!!

Still trying to plan 2013 season.

British triathlon have still not announced the 3rd qualifier for the Short course worlds in London.
Everyone is starting to make other plans and races are filling up.
All we know is that it's on the 14th July.

Also on 14th July are the British Middle Distance champs (& I'm going to be better prepared to race that than an Olympic distance)
and also The Wales long course weekend (Basically IM Wales over 3 days ....... good chance to recce for 2014?) :?

The season so far looks like this:

March/April
Duathlons
Peopleton Duathlon (Worcester)
Newent Duathlon
Hereford Duathlon

May
Blaenavon Triathlon - An Olympic distance with a twist,
crazy steep hills on the bike and a fell run to finish......not done this one for years......should be a laugh!

June
Outlaw Half Ironman
Cotswold 113 Half Ironman

July :?:

August
Penciled in Cotswold Classic Half Ironman
Penciled in Full Boar Half Ironman

Had some sort of bug thing last week, thought I was coming down with the dreaded Norovirus that is going around. Massive headaches and stomach cramps, but thankfully no sickness or anything. Took it easy for a few days and then started adding a few bits of training back slowly. Then back to it today properly.

Saturday

We have snow, LOTS of snow, had a great 50 min run with the dogs this morning.

Then 3 hour turbo session.
Spinervals 13.0 "Tough Love"

kept it aerobic and felt good to be back. Can start to push again next week.

Should have been doing "Not the Roman IX" tomorrow but it's been cancelled due to the weather. Guess I'll get out for a long run in the snow instead.

Sunday
More fun in the snow

2 hour 10 min run off road. 2 loops.
First loop with the dogs down the Gaines and back across Bringsty Common.
Then over the fields and around Brockhampton Estate.
Last 40 minutes or so by head torch which was rather lovely with the snow glistening and more snow falling all around (Aww I feel a song coming on!)
OK it was nice but it was darn TOUGH!!!

Monday
Good hard hill session on the turbo tonight!

With 3 x 8 min long hills (NOT!), 4 x 3 min simulated rolling hills and 4 x 40 sec sprints (30 sec seated and then 10 sec eye balls out, out of the saddle) .

A good solid blast after all the aerobic work on the weekend and first real push since the "bug"! It's funny how some short hard stuff can be quite invigorating sometimes.
