My few weeks old MRI shown that my protruded disc is still pressing on my spinal cord but my symptom has gone. My neurosurgeon said I shouldn't do any heavy lifting and contact sports. He will consult with his boss if surgery is needed (open up my neck and replace the disc) to prevent further damage.

KC Masterpiece wrote:Hey Toby,

seems i'm a bit late, but I just came across your log.

I have lumbar spinal stenosis, so to an extent, I literally feel your pain.

I'm not familiar with cervical stenosis or what the long term effects are, but after a few months of GENTLE (like freakishly gentle) rehab-esque exercizes, I was able to lift more aggressively (if not super high weights  ) and take up Muay Thai and BJJ.

So, basically, keep on trucking.

Hey KC, I dunno why I didn't read your post (!!!).
Did you have a surgery? I'm now on a semi-urgent waiting list of Disc Replacement.

I have also visited a Neck-specialist (physio). He basically told me he won't do contact sport anymore if it was his neck after the surgery.

I have been to the New Kung Fu place once a week but I don't think what they are doing are practical AT ALL. I will go back to my Hung Gar training AFTER I've fully recovered.

I am allowed to workout with "Machine" cause they are "safer". So I will do some stuff with the Ironmind Fabled Cable.

Sorry, Cleetus... I haven't been checking my training log.

Update:

I had my surgery 5 weeks ago. Recovering well.
I will see the private neck specialist (physio) and get my rehab started.
And my post surgery appointment with the doc will be around the end of this month.

Once I get the clearence, I will get back to training step by step.

Also looking forward to seeDan John's Never Let Go and Starting Strength DVD in the mail. 8)

I think I get in late-ish on Monday night (from Canberra) and am off to Perth Tuesday eve. Thanks for the links! I will hopefully have time to check one out. Is the new vego cafe good?

cool, some good old fashioned Flying Nun music. I saw Dean & Britta 13 Most Beautiful a few weeks ago. It was surprisingly excellent. I've not been impressed with other Dean & Britta (or Warhol), but somehow this really worked.
