Lots more holidays recently than usual *woot* mostly spent hill walking and camping with the doglets though I've had no time to download all the pics from my camera just yet. Bit less tri-specific training but still getting some good run and swim sessions in. Its taken this long just to find the time to log on and post!!!

Scotland trip: climbed Cul Mor www.walkhighlands.co.uk/ullapool/culmor.shtml and Quinag www.walkhighlands.co.uk/corbetts/quinag-sail-gharbh, walked from Elphin to Lochinver (19k on rough boggy ground)

Lakes trip: climbed Great Gable and Sca Fell, both from Wasdale Head NT campsite

Goals for rest of 2009:
complete 2nd sprint triathlon and go all out in terms of effort (4th Oct)
complete 10k run (18th Oct) within an hour
continue to run regularly and build up distances until Xmas
lose more weight!!! though the recent walks have convinced me that I have now arrived at fat but fit status, I'd like to lose some of the extra weight if only to make the running easier!

Goals for 2010
complete an early season open water sprint triathlon
assuming above goes well, train for olympic distance triathlon
complete the coast-to-coast cycle route with work colleagues www.c2c-guide.co.uk/aboutc2c.htm 147 miles
complete the Rob Roy Way with my mum plus our three dogs, camping and carrying our own gear www.robroyway.fsnet.co.uk/ 92 miles round where I grew up
contemplate entering the Aberfeldy middle distance triathlon!!! Though I suspect I will be looking to do this next year really
[/list]

hmmmm well as promised I weighed in post-holidays and unfortunately didn't write my weight down from last time so no idea!!! The BF has definitely gone down because it was over 4st and its now down to 3st something so plenty more to go.

I haven't measured myself lately either but wonder if perhaps I should, I suspect I am now largely eating good wholesome healthy food BUT may be eating more than I need at each meal. Find it tricky to work out calorie counts since almost all of my food is home made and certainly not from a formal recipe :? though I definitely need to eat frequently especially on a hard training day...

Typical day of food at the moment (from today)

Brekkie: real oatmeal with rice milk (no sugar etc), 1/2 glass OJ
Mid-morning: 2 pears and half a Trek bar
Lunch: bowl of homemade veg soup, 2 slices rye bread with marg, lots of tomatoes and soy sage and onion slices (x4)
Mid-afternoon: 4 oatcakes with vegan pate
Dinner: homemade sweet potato/tofu/lentil curry with brown rice, possibly a side salad too
Snack - depends, might have a couple of squares of chocolate but might have nothing

Exercise today has been 3 x cycle to work @ 4.5 miles so total of 13.5miles biked plus run home from work (4miles actual running)

Right - must get back into the habit of logging my exercise properly!!!

Friday - definitely feeling the effects of the Thursday run plus a late night at training class, so hard to get up in the morning! Cycled in and out of work but taking it easy plus usual dog walk.

Saturday - gentle recovery run for 2 miles which felt fairly good but had to be careful not to push the pace. Then cycling into town to do my shopping and generally pottering around, probably covered about 5-6miles total.

Sunday - didn't manage any real exercise, off visiting a potential foster dog and then catching up with paperwork and gardening.

Monday - really early train to catch so failed miserably on exercise front - just a hectic 20min cycle in to the station and then home again at end of the day.

Tuesday - decent swim session this morning (though why men have to swim up and down the middle of the lane and ignore people who are fast than them....) and cycle to/from work this afternoon

*noticing that I have eaten a bit more sweet stuff over the weekend and probably drunk more as in a glass of wine Fri/Sat and a bottle of cider on Sunday and really seeing the impact on how I feel - tetchy, irritable, achey joints and short tempered....*

Also went for a run last night (Tuesday) in an attempt to kick my ass into gear. Did just over 2 miles at 10min miles but had about 5mins chatting to other dog owners during that.

Wednesday: swim am 40 mins with 300m warmup and 150m cool down. About 500m of drills/faster lengths in between

Cycle to/from work in afternoon then off to training classes with the doglets.

Thursday: day of rest because my wee body was aching. Gentle pedal in and out of work plus some easy walking with the dogs

Friday: 40min bike ride to check the road bike is all okay in prep for race on Sunday. Top speed 20mph, average 15mph which I'm happy with given the wind, rain and trying not to push it.

Left shin/knee is a little tender so hoping it will be ok for the weekend :?

Weighed in this morning and much to my surprise am now at 11st 8.5lbs - will try and check weight every 2 weeks and see if I can make some steady downward progress!

oops  a very belated update!

The race went really really well, even though when I drove the course I was getting pretty nervous - quite a lot of long hills with steep final moment, strong headwinds and at the time very very rainy.

On the day itself it was gorgeous, cool but sunny. The hills were still really hard and my bike was creaking so clearly feeling it too  but given it was much much harder than the last event I did - am pretty chuffed! Will try and get some pics up later, and I have learned to avoid the free sports massage - the bruises are still fading :x

Almost as exciting was feeling really good afterwards and not wiped out :D

The day afterward was my birthday, and thanks to my lovely folks I now own my first wetsuit - a BlueSeventy Reaction - had the chance to try it out in the endless pool in the shop, very weird but lots of fun!

Other training has been a little less rigorous after the race, but I've managed to do at least a good swim or run most days of the week. Thursday last week I ran home (4.5 miles in 45 mins) which felt great, and Saturday I went for a run in hilly forest with a mate and ran for over an hour plus another hour of walking...we did get lost!

Focusing on the 10k this Sunday with my usual goal of simply enjoying it and finishing
