monster session overall mate. Was that all done in the normal length lunchbreak?

500lbs squat will fall soon, now its just a matter of who will dive past the finishing line first...

Bit longer than the usual lunch man, maybe 10 or 15 minutes extra. Rattled through the deadlift warmup faster than usual, no rest till the 200 really. Figured getting into it quickly with short lunch breaks is the only way to go, have to resist the temptation to pose my way through a long warmup.

Some good battles on the go between us at the moment. Squatting is tight obviously. Although front squats were better today you still have a good lead on that. Deadlifts are neck and neck I reckon. Overhead is closing up as you start jerking. Note sure where the race to 300lbs clean is, will know more tomorrow.

Blue shoes will give you the edge to bag the 500lbs before the Finn. Guaranteed.

JPs words of scorn ran through Spug's mind for most of the evening. Until the were pushed out by the immortal words of the Hatebreed:

IF THERE'S ONE THING IN THIS WORLD
THAT I MUST DO
IT WILL BE
PROVE YOU WRONG

The plan was set. Wednesday - Clean and Jerk. Plus maybe a cheeky punt at the "Bodyweight for Reps" and the "75% of Bodyweight for Reps" challenges. Weight on arrival at the gym was about 103kg. Bulk is going well.

Clean and Jerk

Warmup by snatching and clean and jerking with the bar, 40kg, 70kg.

90kg x 1 clean + 3 jerks - nice deep squat clean.
100kg x 1 clea + 3 jerks - I HAVE MASTERED IT!
105kg x 1 clean + 3 jerks - clean was a bit dodgier. Too far forward, didn't rack it right.
110kg x 1 clean + 1 jerk - the revenge of the power clean. Sigh.

Felt heavy. Arms were a bit sore. Disappointed that the clean tech that I believed might be there wasn't. JP was PROVEN RIGHT.

Figured yesterday's session took more out of me than I realised so will just cut this one short, no challenge attempts.

115kg x 1 clean + 1 jerk
120kg x 1 clean + 1 jerk - crappy clean, jerk was easy but felt very heavy in the rack position. So different from taking the bar from blocks.

One improvement today was on the jerks, I tried to land with some give in the legs. Felt good, I think this might be a key to getting heavier weights overhead. Maybe next week I'll jerk from the rack again.

Front of the thighs is sore above the knees again after the squatting. Not sure what this means for Friday, might try wrapping them loosely. Or maybe just leave the max out till next week. JP aint nailing 500lbs this week anyway.

Routine session today. Couldn't focus due to the knowledge that JP was NAILING THE 500LBS SQUAT RIGHT AT THAT VERY MOMENT :(

Sigh. Anyway, short on time so:

Bench
Warmup
100x3
110x3
120x2
130x1
135x1
140x1
145x1

45 degree Incline Smith Machine Press
45 es (each side) x 5
47.5 es x 4
47.5 es x 4
45 es x 4

Bent Over Rows In Smith Machine
45es x 8
55es x 6
55es x 6
45es x 6

Chins
Bodyweight x 10

Not the kind of session you want when losing a race to a Finn :(

Plan today was to equal old squat PB of 220kg.

Squat

Warmup.

Could feel the knee soreness on 180kg so bailed and hit the showers.

Learned a few good lessons today. The eleiko bars are too narrow to use on the squat stand. The new phone handles lack of light worse than the old one, might need to gaffa tape a torch to it to check depth.

Think I might cut back on the squats for a few weeks, bring the deadlift up instead. Give the knees some time to recover and adjust. Then maybe come back with the knee wraps, not sure about that though.

Been looking through your log, and Spug, you're one strong fucker! Keep it up, man. Also, I hope the knee gets better soon.
