[quote="mouche"]Right I need to work on my pushups - the most I'm ever done in one go in my life was 30 but usually I stick to 20. Going to chase you up to 40... and then I'll think about doing it for 3 sets!

You're on!

Right, a somewhat truncated workout today; got warmed up, pushed out the first set of squats and then got roped into taking the mother-in-law to the garage to pick up her car. So had to fire out everything else with slightly less rest than I'd have liked. Still, not too bad I think.

Squat

5x5 @ 105kg

Depth not astonishing, but reckon I broke parallel with all but a few.

Deadlift

5x 105kg
5x 107.5kg
5x 110kg

Still barely even feeling these. Think 3 sets is the way forward with the volume of squats I'm on.

Shoulder Press

4x5 @ 55kg

Fifth set didn't happen at all, push-press to get the thing up there, and then nothing...

And then we needed to get going, will finish off after dinner...

Neither can I :? I wonder if it's a technique issue or I'm just too weak.

Possibly flexibility?

Maybe. Although I doubt that. Will try again tomorrow.

I just tried one, I managed to do a couple but not touching the sternum either, for me it'd be part strength and part flexibility, maybe tight lats.

Yeah, they're tough and weird. Think they'll be a regular shoe-in in place of the chin ups, with an eye for getting closer all the time. If anyone else has any hints on tech, shout out!

Hehe I know that feeling! A classic Claire gym fail there... along with putting all my dumbbells back on the rack before realising I need the same ones for the next exercise.

I've never done fatman pullups but it might be something at wrist or forearm level preventing you from getting all the way to the sternum? Imagining the movement, my wrist is where I can feel any possible weakness - probably a stupid question you've checked already, but is your grip wide enough?

Grip's as wide as I can get it given the set up I'm doing it on I'm afraid...

Think it might be the issue though, either that or a chest flexibility thing.

Surely the required chest flexibility is the same as for bench press though? I would think the difference would lie in having to pull yourself up which in my mind would engage grip/forearm strength a lot more than bench...? So maybe grip strength is the weakness... But this is just vague guessing, I'm sure others on here can be a lot more helpful than me on this one!
