OLYMPIC SPORTS GYM

About 20 strongmen decended on this poor place leaving behind damage and destruction. Fucking mental session really - so many things happening all the time around us. At times felt like a spectator and was difficult to keep on doing your thing. Took about 4 hours :D

Great day though, great crew, impressive gutsy stuff from the newcomers, and the good old beasts never disappoint with 300+ dead
lifts, 175 and 200kg stone loaded to all kinds of heights, 380 yoke, tyre being flipped like a pancake and so on.

My stuff:

1x220 - dare i say easy?

Log
rubbish work with the log today. The Shame.

Tyre
1 flip
6 flips - tough, but great overall work.

112kg suitcase farmers for 20m and 3 flips with the tyre - set of the day, over the moon about this because it closely imitates the first event at the comp i am training towards. Looks doable now. The Hope.

Stones
loaded 90, 120 and 140 stone to 49-50ish inch. Tendon giving some grief afterwards, but i have to start pushing it a bit.

Started nailing cissus supplement couple days back, seems like solid evidence for tendon recovery behind it.

Upwards and onwards!

who knows, folk say it should be 360kg but tyres are all different. Some 400kg ones are really hard, some easy, depending on the width, grip and all kinds of factors :D

Big likelyhood that no training tmr due to a work trip to York, which means a big session on thursday.

big session didnt materialise, but some work was put in nevertheless.

Trained with lovely .flux who pulled a piss easy 80kg first time deadlifting in years, and was working clean and push press technique with 22.5kg. A nice dinner at a local vegetarian indian place followed.

Lily's is great, and they are very clear about what is vegan as they have many vegan customers apparently, and Jains and Sikh's with their various dietary requirements.

It's simple South Indian food, IMO much nicer than the Pakistani, Bengali and Kashmiri style cuisine that is the norm here.

^Thanks .flux, I'll be there. I am gasping for a good curry out here.

I am with you on the South Indian food by the way, it is sadly under-represented in English restaurants. I like it all though - Coriander in Chorlton does great Bengali food in particular, and does lots of vegan stuff.

But I'm sure JP the reformed bulker does not want to see curry all over his training log...

Sandbag work, 80kg

deceptively heavy and difficult to handle, need to find the most suitable technique to shoulder it fast.

shouldered it 5-7 times, loaded it to platforms, walked around with it. Then one 75m walk with the bear hug grip for conditioning.

Vertical jumps
at least 6 sets of 3-5 reps to increasing height, solid.
