my training is pretty shit at the moment, first the knee issue, then i found a location for my gym (post in the strength section!) and then i fell and tore my hand landing on glass.

Sunday i did deadlift 3 singles with 230, which was harder than it should be. That should be a repping weight. Then some trap bar deads

Tuesday i tested my knee for the first time with squats for a month. Went to just 120 paused squats and so on, to test the waters. All good, but damn squatting is hard after a months break :D

focus is not on training at the moment because of setting up the gym - man its stressful (and with all kinds of crazy problems and drama i could do without)

friday i did upper body pumping:

45kg axle strict overhead
10 sets of 10 reps

PUMP!

and some other wanky pumping.

Sunday

log
5x50
5x50
3x50
1x80
1x100
1x110
1x115

happy with that all things considering!
t

Strict log
1x100 - again, happy
10x80

then why oh why did we do this...

250m x 135kg yoke in the snow

my calves are still rock hard and painful from this! Such a stupid and awesome idea at the same time :D

tuesday
some back and front squats, only light, comeback! max was 1x120 frontie.

pullups

yesterday (thursday)

narrow grip board press up to 2 x 5 x 120

and some pumping

today:

trap bar deadlifts

5x85
5x85
5x85
6x135
3x185
5x235
12x215

trap bar is crazy, because of the balance is totally off. Great workout!

shrugs with trap bar
20x215
20x215

couple light bicep sets

good session. And they are few and far between these days.

...now back to the stress :D

ive been shit at maintaining the log!

life is crazy at the moment, but fuck, should have enough time for this long time tradition :)

training has sufferent from all kinds of stress, but still have had some on and off sessions. Seems like every other session is shit, another decent :)

best was deadlift best set 4 x 230kg, thats not all that shit eh.

pressing was just 105kg axle floor to overhead

rest has been just pumping!

I will train tomorrow, and then might have to have a wee break to get shit done (and the training area has to be moved next week too).

BOOM!

Keep going, Joni! Training and getting a gym set up at the same time can't be easy but it'll pay off!

thanks :)

MY TRAINING SUCKS ASS at the moment

hey ho, its part of the process i guess.

i still deadlift 230 every week (why 230, why???), seems like thats my bottom line if i go under that i will cry :D

lost tons of weight because of the stress and lack of food, but once the renovation is done and the gym is nailed, will start BULK OF DOOM and get rid of the pencil neck.

...there is some fight in the old dog yet...

shit, updating has been poor :D

not organised enough to have long sessions, so getting work in when i can when working in the gym.

thursday did back work with various pullups, and we have a rig in the gym with raising ladders in the gym, which are great for these jumping pullups going higher and higher. what ever that is called...

friday front squats
5x60
5x60
3x60
1x60
1x100
1x130
1x130
3x130

and that was it i think...

saturday was going to do pressing with log, but after a single with 100 and triple with 90 i just felt way too hungry, so abandoned the plan

sunday

strict log
5x50
5x50
1x50
5x5x82.5

then got too hungry again :D

later:

squats
5x60
5x60
3x100
1x130
1x160
3x130
3x90
3x100
3x110

last three were focusing on really fucking fast reps, legs dead after this

squatting is poor at this stage but will just keep the reps fast

abs: leg raises, abs on ghd, windscreen wipers

...it will come...

dammit, need to get better with updates, i will forget the numbers otherwise

tuesday:

deadlifts
5x70
5x70
1x70
1x120
1x170
5x210 - sweet, happy with that at this stage

125kg sandbag carry, 30m, with a turn at 15m. Tough. Tougher than it should be, especially the pick up.

Few sets of GHD with bodyweight

reverse hyper
20 x 0
20 x 10
20 x 20

back pump like never before. First time i have done these.

Today:

VIKING PRESS! Hell yeah, have a viking press at my gym now.

worked up to triples with 90kg on it, whoah its a hard set up. Viking press kilos dont matter at all, i did a comp back in the day with "140kg viking press" and got 11 reps. Now i did 3 sets of 12 with 70kg on the press and it was tough.

Then strict presses with 40kg.

some lateral raises with 15kg dbs.

friday last week:

front squats
5x60
3x60
1x60
1x100
1x120
1x130
1x140

deadlifts from 16 inch height
5x70
5x70
5x70
2x120
2x170
1x200
1x220
5x240 - pleased with this

some lat work

sunday

big plan of building the stick log continues
5x50
3x50
1x75
5x5x85 - was tough but not as tough as it was with 82.5.

i think it would be wise to go to 4x4x87.5 next...

viking press
we went to a single max, but i cant remember how much i got. It depends also on where you load the weight, so the number is not so important. It was heavy for me though :D

and some strict presses with viking too

and then some tricep work with bands and tricep bar

today:

was not supposed to train and it retrospect it might have been wise to leave it to another day but anyway

deadlift
5x70
5x70
1x120
1x170
1x200
1x220
stiff leg
5x170

weak.

reverse hyper, just two light sets

curls :)

weight gain is going ok. Not weighing myself though...

5x50
1x50
1x70
1x90
1x100
1x105
5x90
5x90

didnt feel good, but thats log comeback normality.

later in the evening:

squat
5x60
5x60
1x100
1x120
1x140
1x150
2x115
1x130
1x150

friday
gyms opening party, lots of stress, but got a session in. who would trust a skinny cook, so i need to train to represent :)

power clean power jerk
3x50
3x50
1x50
1x70
1x80
1x90
1x100
power clean only:
1x107.5
1x112.5
1x115

funny that power clean numbers are not as much down as others

today
deadlifts
5x70
5x70
1x70
1x120
1x170
1x200
1x200

fuck these felt slow and shit...

front squat
3x60
1x60
1x90
1x110
1x130
1x145 - sweet
2x110
2x110
2x110

stiff leg deadlift
3x110
3x140
3x170
3x210

wtf is this, stiff legs feel way stronger than normal deads. I think its one of those "yeah thats fucked up, continue training" type of situations.

ok have missed some logging here

will post highlights and then get back to loyal logging!

big change in my training: I am training now :) as in, will dedicate some quality time for training, will train only on days when someone is working at the gym so i dont have to interrupt my training all the time, and have fixed training days. I also started the cube method for strongman again, if only to have some structure in my training and prevent going too heavy too often in the absence of hawk eye training partners.

The gym is a fucking awesome place to train though, perfect!

so on sunday 11th i did strict log 3x3x92.5 so the build up is going well.

then onto a form of cube for strongman:

tuesday: squat speed day

front squats - because front squats wanted the speed work to be with a bit heavier but just for singles.

5x70
3x70
1x70
1x90
1x110
1x110
1x110
1x110
1x110
1x110
1x110
1x110

safety squat bar with 5 second pause
3x75
1x115
1x135

ab work

thursday - repetition overhead

log - wanted to go back to my old technique when i got 130 and 132, so instead of one high rep set, split it into working triples

5x50
3x50
1x50
2x80
3x100
3x100
3x100

felt much better :)

keg overhead
1x55
1x75
1x85
1x95

keg carry, 20m with a turn
95kg

shoulder dumbell work

tricep pushdowns with bands, 3 second hold in the fully extended position

friday - deadlift max day

nervous about this as my deadlift has been shit lately. But noticed that when i pulled my max my tech was a bit different from low squatting position i have been using lately. So went back to the roots, and:
5x70
3x70
2x120
1x170
1x200
1x220
1x235
1x240

happy with that

heavy rows on chest supported row

rear delt raises and face pulls

reverse hyper, couple sets of 20 with 15kg extra weight (yes, this mofo is hard work!)

sunday - events day

my events day will always have some pressing ground work

strict log
5x50
3x50
1x50
1x80
1x95
1x100
1x102.5

pleased with that, the growth in bodyweight shows!

viking press, 3 sets of 10-12 reps

farmers
20m x 70
20m x 100
12m x 110
12m x 120

felt ok considering its probably the first time i have done farmers this year.
