Have you tried gripping the bar with both hands as you normally would to deadlift, but before lifting it roll it forwards, get your hips down while bringing the bar back and lift as it hits your shins? I find this helps me.

I don't know why I'm giving a veteran advice! :crackpipe:

I'm not a fan of the rolling start. I think it tends to lead to variation in the starting position which with the heavy weight isn't to be encouraged.

Maybe we should necromance one of the old deadlift discussion threads (they always seem to start in JP's log :) ):

yeah the rolling is kind of a must with a suit i guess - but i prefer not to - we shall see what happens :)

In all, i really wouldnt like to use a suit, at least not before i am deadlifting 260+

Good session today with Anthony The Machine and BIg Sam.

long may you live without suits mate :D

OLYMPIC SPORTS GYM

Big crew present. I was flat from the start. Time to stop training like an idiot with these big sessions planned two days a row. Need to break it up a bit, only doing cardio etc if training two days in a row. Not strong enough to not to make most of the training time i have left.

With those forewords...

Farmers walk
70m x 52
3 sets x 122 x 15m - 13+ seconds each, way too slow. Need to train quicker feet, with lighter weight as well. Crackpipe plan was to do 10 sets of these but hands were all done from the "cheesegrater" handles after these sets - no danger of nailing all the sets.
112 x 15m

Tyre flip, a single and a double

medley:
170kg duck walk for 20m + 137kg on tyre drag 20m

couple days off and back to it on sunday.

Nice power clean man. Training fair but these days, got to expect to feel fried now and again and/or have off sessions. On The Up overall though eh!

Cheers :D

yeah crash, thats the one - or whats left of it... There are not many forrests in this country, thats one and even thats very fragmented, full of roads and built up areas, and not very big (for a finnish person), but i guess its something at least :D

SUGDEN CENTRE

power jerk from rack - with bad technique (note: work on it)
tons x bar x few times
5x40
5x40
5x60

1x110
fx115

press
5x60
5x60
5x60
10x60

front squat
5x60
3x100
1x130

Solid crew, solid session.

OLYMPIC SPORTS GYM

Deadlifts
5x70
3x120
1x170
1x220 - crazy jump!
1x240 - easier than i expected
fx250 - didnt even budge, but i will be going for this on a regular basis now. nothing wrong with a bit of "f"!

Front squats
5x70
3x110
1x140
1x160

My front squat nemesis robbo was looking solid and went ahead on the PB table with a nice 175!

Power cleans
3x70
2x70
1x80
1x90
1x100
1x105
1x112.5
fx117.5 - had the height easy, lacked balls to rack it
fx117.5 - same story

A bit of encouragement and advice from Fat Joe about proper cleans. front squat power is there so may as well try it

full cleans from hang
3x70
3x70

cleans from floor
1x70
1x90
1x110
1x120 - pb
1x125 - pb

easy :D Over the fucking moon! Didnt think i will ever be able to do this. Maybe another side effect of losing some weight?

Was buzzing for a while but then realised i cant jerk anything like that, and i do all my jerks with bar in my hands and this was bar on my shoulders in a clean position.

= jerks back to the drawing board.

Arm over arm
150kg on tyre x 20m - 42.8 seconds though i have a bad feeling it was more because to get so close to fast athletes as robbo at 42,6 and milsy at 42.2 is suspect...

+ Drag back after a wee break - murder
