22 Nov. 2011- Tues

Bench: 10 x bar, 10 x 75 lbs, 10 x 95 lbs, 8 x 105 lbs, 3 x 115 lbs (failed), 4 x 115 lbs

Machine Dips: 10 x 135 lbs, 10 x 150 lbs, 8 x 150 lbs

Argh, failed on bench and I was going for "no fail" kinda workout, just hit a sticking point and that was it, not much warning  . But, it was the first time in a long time someone came running to my "aid", although by the time they got there, I had already sat up and put the bar down  . IMO this is one of the benefits of being a woman - not that someone comes running, but that my weights aren't so heavy they are dangerous! In my figuring its when I hit bodyweight weights I actually *need* a spotter. Wow I'm rambling today! Did machine dips because the regular dip area was co-opted by a guy doing super sets of dips and push-ups (in the dip machine space  ). So now I've hit two days of going "every day" this week, lets see if I can keep the trend up! :D

bummer about the fail on bench. glad you got out of it OK. it can be scary. yeah a spotter certainly would be wise.

Ha! Didn't end up hitting the gym so hard last week. Did good Mon and Tues, but come Wednesday I drove to the gym and parked my car when the boyfriend called, the conversation went something like this:

BF: Hey, pick me up on your way to the gym.
Me: I'm already there! I just parked.
BF: Are you still in your car?
Me: Yes
BF: Well, just come back and get me.

So I go home, and he's not even ready. I start playing with the doggies and by the time he's almost ready its the doggies dinner time and they need let out! Feeding the dogs is a bit of a chore because one of them has to be hand-fed and she walks away after like two bites so you have to follow her around and coax her into eating. So by the time I was done, I just took the pups for a walk and called it a day! That is pretty much how the rest of the week went, but man, I was AT the gym and still didn't make it  . No hope for me

28 Nov. '11 - Mon

Squat: 10 x pistol, 12 x 135 lbs, 8 x 165 lbs, 5 x 185 lbs, 2 x 195 lbs

SLDL: 3 x 10 x 135 lbs

Donkey Calf: 3 x 10 x 135 lbs

Hip Abd: 3 x 10 x 100 lbs
Hip Add: 3 x 10 x 100 lbs

Good session, the last few reps on the last few sets of squats were kinda ugly, but I got them :) .

30 Nov. 2011 - Wed
*5 min warm-up eliptical

Bench: 10 x bar, 10 x 75 lbs, 10 x 95 lbs, 10 x 95 lbs, 10 x 95 lbs

Dips: 6, 4, 5

Tricep Press: 3 x 10 x 40 lbs

Argh, worst RA flare EVER right now, in my jaw! I'm in a lot of pain and I can't close or open my mouth all the way. Looks like it liquid food tonight. Jaws don't really interfere with workouts, but I still took it a little easy as I just don't feel great overall, either.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, hope you found something tasty to drink! (good excuse for chocolate milk and pudding excesses...)

Thanks Hal and Rach, the jaw is okay this week! I almost feel bad taking your healing vibes because this sort of "flare" hits me all the time! Just gotta work around them as best I can :)

2 Dec. 2011 - Fri
*15 minutes warm-up on eliptical

Chins: 4, 2, 3 x hammer grip
Seated Rows: 3 x 10 x 40 lbs
DB Shrugs: 15 x 40s

Light kinda "back" day :)

5 Dec 2011 - Mon
5 min warmup - eliptical machine

Squat: 10 x pistol, 12 x 135 lbs, 5 x 165 lbs, 5 x 185 lbs, 2 x 200 lbs, f x 205 lbs

SLDL: 3 x 10 x 135 lbs

Donkey Calf: 3 x 12 x 135 lbs

Hip Abd: 3 x 10 x 100 lbs
Hip Add: 3 x 10 x 100 lbs

Argh, I HAD that 205 lbs squat! The bar wasn't *perfectly* centered on my back and it started tipping to the left just a little about halfway out of the hole, but as soon as I tried to straighten out it killed my drive and I failed!. Ooooh, I hate that, I was so "yeah, I got it" in my head but then I didn't have it.

6 Dec. 2011- Tues
*5 min warm-up treadmill

Bench: 10 x bar, 10 x 75 lbs, 10 x 95 lbs, 6 x 105 lbs, 4 x 115 lbs, 3 x 115 lbs

Machine Dips: 10 x 135 lbs, 10 x 150 lbs, 10 x 150 lbs

Tricep Press: 10 x 70 lbs, 10 x 80 lbs, 10 x 80 lbs (diff. cable machine than normal, hench higher weights)

Decent session, totally need to start benching twice a week again! Maybe I'll actually drag my sorry arse there on a Friday and stop skipping! Darn end-of-week sloth!!

9 Dec. 2011 - Fri

Bench: 10 x bar, 10 x 75 lbs, 10 x 95 lbs, 5 x 105 lbs, 5 x 115 lbs, 2 x 125 lbs

Seated Row: 3 x 10 x 50 lbs

Lats: 3 x 10 x 70 lbs

DB Shrugs: 20 x 40s, 15 x 45s

Gonna keep benching twice a week, once a week just makes me feel like I'm starting from scratch everytime! Too many days in between to keep the strength gains up.

Yeah to make progress on bench I also found I needed to do two sessions a week. Then you will make rapid progress, what is the plan one volume and one heavy?

Baldy - yup, that is my rough plan! Haven't crunched any numbers but that is the general outline :)

12 Dec. 2011 - Mon

Squat: 10 x pistol, 10 x 135 lbs, 6 x 165 lbs, 3 x 185 lbs, 2 x 190 lbs, 1 x 195 lbs, 10 x 135 lbs

SLDL: 3 x 10 x 135 lbs

That was it, just no motivation or energy left for what I like to call the prehab stuff. I don't know if calf work is prehab, but hip abbduction/adduction totally helps out my knees and hips. I notice when they are not a part of my routine. Grip still struggling on stiff-legged deadlifts and makes me rush thru them a bit, but thats okay. I sure do love squat days though, more so when they are done :) .
