yeah, that's what a brevet should be, but in this they have a rule that for every 24 hour you need to have a block of at least four hours of not travelling. a bit soft I'd say, from my couch it seems easy to do it non-stop

looking good so far. aurrera MrC!

indeed. heja heja!

Yeah go Mr C! Looks like he's been flying recently! :)

Interestingly the guy in first place won the mtb race I did yesterday, last year. So some of these guys/gals are damn strong mtbers/cyclists etc. But of course some will be just trying to finish...

But 3 and a half days basically riding non stop! Wonder how their bodies are holding up? Saddle sores anyone? Hope you remembered your chamois cream Mr C!

this tracking thing is behaving quite strange, you'd expect some kind of average value since the last checkpoint, but the only way the values would make sense is if the distance is as the linear difference between the present and the last checkpoint, and the speed is the momentaneous speed at the time of the update... strange way of mixing things up I'd say :)

you can also listen to the call-ins :)

i'm baffeld too.. and i think someone is cheating:

Marquita Gelderman - Last 25 points

#0 on Mon Feb 8 21:46:04 2010 (2 hours, 1 minutes ago). 34.13 mi traveled at 221.0 mph
#1 on Mon Feb 8 21:36:48 2010 (2 hours, 11 minutes ago). 34.71 mi traveled at 2716.7 mph
#2 on Mon Feb 8 21:36:02 2010 (2 hours, 12 minutes ago). 33.90 mi traveled at 263.6 mph
#3 on Mon Feb 8 21:28:19 2010 (2 hours, 19 minutes ago). 34.41 mi traveled at 891.3 mph
#4 on Mon Feb 8 21:26:00 2010 (2 hours, 22 minutes ago). 45.44 mi traveled at 351.8 mph
#5 on Mon Feb 8 21:18:15 2010 (2 hours, 29 minutes ago). 56.30 mi traveled at 109.3 mph

seriously though, it's weird to see what is obviously very hardcore riding, falling, punctures, mechanicals, bonking.... represented in real time by some numbers!

hey, all this talk about bad weather from MrC, and now like half of the call-ins are about how wonderful the weather is... I think he's been playing us all along

Oh well Mr C has hit inland/ North Canterbury (I live in the Canterbury region) and is now heading into what looks like quite steady rain. Looks like he's sleeping now. Just hope it isn't too cold and miserable tomorrow. Was overcast all day but didn't drop any rain here. But probably a bit wet furthur inland? Temperature dropped quite a lot in the evening (4 hrs ago) so if hes sleeping rough hope its not too cold.

So keep it going Mr C! Only a couple of days more to go, hopefully  Be great hearing of your experience after you get to Blenheim etc You guys are all legends!

Looks like he's getting close to the finish (if I'm reading the tracking board correctly). Go Mr.C!!! I also can't wait to hear about your adventures. :D
